The event was held from July 21-24 and featured some of the top travel teams from California and from out of state. I was able to attend the event on Sunday, July 23 and I focused on as many of the CA teams as I could. Here’s a look at some of the top standouts I saw.
1.
Mikayla Oliver

This was my second time watching Oliver play this summer. She’s a capable wing scorer. She can put the ball on the floor in the halfcourt and make strong, aggressive moves to the basket. She can hit defenders with a little stop and pop, and she can shoot the runner in the lane. Consistently created her own shot. Her offensive strength lies in her slashing ability. Also able to move off ball cutting in the halfcourt.

Denloye is a strong point guard. She can use her ball handling and her strength to muscle her way through the defense and get to the basket. She can push the tempo in transition or she can slow the game down in the halfcourt. Good court vision, sees the floor in both the halfcourt and on the break. Capable defensive player with quick hands.
3.
Rosalee Gutierrez

Gutierrez stood out to me for her shooting ability. In the game I saw, she was able to shoot off the catch from three-point range and she was also able to shoot the pull-up from three-point range. Overall a consistent shooter from distance. She’s more comfortable taking the three off the catch but she was also able to put the ball on the floor and get closer to the basket.
4.
Cyriah Coleman

Coleman is a gifted playmaker who can be the lead guard or play alongside another ball-handler. She’s unselfish and in the game I saw was very pass-first oriented. She can see the court and find the open teammate whether it’s in the halfcourt or in transition. I’ve seen her as a scorer before, but this particular game, she was focused on being a facilitator. Good ball-handler who can push the tempo on the break.
