It was a six day event in total, though it was broken down into two separate tournaments: Run 4 Roses Classic (July 6-8) and Run 4 Roses Championship (July 9-11). There was a ton of high level talent on display and a lot of standouts across the six day span. Here are some point guard standouts from the 2024 divisions.
Basketball IQ was unmatched. Threw quick, zippy passes to create for teammates, including impressive no looks. Handles are tough and allow her to handle any pressure that’s thrown her way. As smart as they come and really the definition of a floor general, but also has the ability to score at all 3 levels. Really reliable outside shooter as well.
Another player whose basketball IQ is obvious when you watch her play. Wasn’t forcing it and consistently made the smart play. True playmaker but can also get to the rim or knock down shots.
Highlights
Really solid floor general playing up a level. Played much bigger than what she was, constantly grabbing rebounds. Made plays for both herself and her teammates. Shifty handles and fearless overall.
Highlights
Has really strong PG skills. Multiple moves she can utilize and was able to handle pressure or weave through traffic seamlessly. Controlled the tempo and pace well. Constantly got after it defensively as well, coming up with multiple steals and deflections.
Wasn’t the tallest player on the floor, yet she contended for nearly every rebound by simply boxing out and going after the ball hard. Really solid in every aspect of the game. Made good passes, handled the ball well, attacked gaps, finished tough shots, and showed an ability to knock down shots from anywhere. Hard worker.
