As most of you know there has been quite a change in North Dakota Basketball. This year the NDHSAA approved a 3 Class System which will take effect this year. Now instead of having class “A” and “B” we will have “A”, “AA” and “B” which will make for more exciting competition and great Basketball. On top of that we have some great athletes looking to leave their mark on the floor this coming year and go out with a bang. Let’s dive into a few 2024’s you’ll want to keep an eye on, who make every game enjoyable to watch.
Jocelyn Schiller Jocelyn Schiller 5'7" | PG Grand Forks Red River | 2024 State ND : Grand Forks Red River- When it comes to an athlete who can do it all, and make it look effortlessly, Schiller comes to mind. The 5’7 All-State PG averaged 25.6PPG, 6APG and added 6.5SPG in her junior year campaign along with adding a State Championship to her impressive resume. On the floor there isn’t much she can’t do, when it comes to passing, shooting, scoring finding open teammates or crashing the boards, she flat out hustles and gets down to work. She is an incredible player and probably one of the best point guards you’ll see in ND High School Basketball for a while. She’ll be back for her Senior season before she heads off to the University of North Dakota to play, and you can bet she has 1 thing on mind…another title. If you get the opportunity to watch her, I recommend it. She is nothing short of impressive to say the least.
Ashton Safranski Ashton Safranski 5'7" | PG Fargo Davies | 2024 State ND : Fargo Davies- Another high-level athlete out of the East that already has put together an impressive career for the Davies. The 5’7 Guard can be an absolute menace on the floor and can put up some big numbers any given night. Her junior year she averaged 19PPG, 5.8 APG, and shot 39% behind the arc connecting on 59/151. She is a proven player that can do it on both sides of the floor and makes any game exciting to watch. Safranski flat out gets down to work, goes 100% all game and is a true leader on the floor. She has quick hands, runs the floor well and is a basket waiting to happen. Expect her to really put up some impressive numbers this season, her AAU summer was just as exciting with ND Pro as well.
Teigan Mao: Fargo South- Malo can be a handful in the paint to say the least. In her junior year she was #2 in the EDC in rebounding with 236 rebounds 10.7RPG and also tallied on 14.0PPG. Malo is tall, well-built but also stretches the floor nicely and knows how to use her size/footwork to make good things happen down in the post. I expect her Senior year to really be a big year for her, she’s got all the talent and has proven she is one who can change the momentum of a game any night. Another quality player you will want to watch!
