Here’s a look at some new names who left really good first impressions on Saturday. Presented in numerical order of their jerseys and excludes players who were listed as top performers earlier this week.
Ray was one of several talented point guards in the freshman showcase and a couple of our scouts think she belongs in the mix for top spot in our rankings when they come out this week. This was my first chance to see Jada and she reminds me a lot of 2024 Pikeville star Trinity Rowe Trinity Rowe 5’7″ | PG Pikeville | 2024 State KY . Jada plays with the same IQ and skill level that Trinity has shown over her career. Hopefully Ray can reach the same level that Rowe has.
Eberhard was one of the taller prospects at our Freshman camp and she left a positive impression with her ability to play both inside and out. Riley was an active rebounder who wasn’t afraid to lead the break once she came down with the rebound. With her size and potential, Riley could be a top prospect in the class, long term.
Highlights
Carner is a shifty point guard who showcased an above average handle and the ability to finish around the rim with a diverse layup package. Asia never seemed to force outside jumpers but also didn’t shy away from firing a three when open. Her unselfishness was refreshing and I look forward to watching her skills develop over her career.
McCurry is a coach’s kid and you can see that in how she plays the game. Caroline made several nice plays where she caught the ball in the post and made excellent reads and passes to open cutters when the defense came to double her. McCurry has good size and will only get better as her ball handling improves and she gets more comfortable on the wing, full time.
