This talented group won a championship at the Battle of the Bayou in New Orleans. The team consists of players from Northwest Missouri, Kansas City and from Kansas. After watching a few of their games, here is a look at the players that we saw in action.
Maggie Collins Maggie Collins 6'1" | PF Platte Valley | 2024 State MO : The 6’1″ Northwest Missouri State recruit from Platte Valley is a force around the basket with her combination of strength and finesse. She gobbles up defensive rebounds and can start the fast break with a nice outlet pass. She has good fundamentals in the low post with her footwork and ability to seal defenders. She can also operate from the high post with her ability to pass the ball and make a dribble move from the top.
Jamaya McPherson: A 5’7″ combo guard from St. Thomas Aquinas (KS) who excels in the open court with her speed and excellent handles. She attacks the basket well and is a very good finisher. She can create her own shot in the half court offense very well with a variety of escape moves to get to her spots. She has a nice mid-range jumper and she can also knock down the 3-pointer.
Honor Mannings: A 5’7″ 2024 point guard from St. Joe Lafayette who is an excellent defensive player with his quickness and athleticism. She is a very good on-ball defender who will hawk the ball with her quick hands. She is also very disruptive in the passing lanes where she was getting deflections and steals. She also had a quick first step to beat defenders to the basket on her dribble penetration.
Taylor Weishaar: A 6’2″ 2024 forward from Kansas who was a matchup problem with her height and versatile skills set. She is a good secondary ball handler with a nice shooting touch from 3-point range. She also has a very effective hesi dribble that will freeze a defender. She scores inside well with her height as she does a good job of keeping the ball high and finishing off the glass. She can also cause problems on defense with her length at the top of her team’s half-court trap.
Lailah Hatcher Lailah Hatcher 5'7" | PG Link | 2025 State MO : A 5’7″ 2025 point guard from Link Academy who handles the ball well and has excellent court vision. she does a good job of advancing the ball upcourt with her passing. She can break down defenders off the dribble with her creative handles and she can knock down the pull up jumper. She is also a very solid defender who plays the passing lanes well.
Chloe Burnham: A 5’7″ 2024 guard from St. Joe Christian who was very good at playing off of her teammates with her movement without the ball. She made good cuts off the ball and she was coming off curl screens well to get open for open shots. She was also a good finisher in the lane. She also passed the ball well and was a good rebounder from the guard position.
Jalea Price Jalea Price 5'7" | SG Maryville | 2025 MO : A 5’6″ 2024 guard from Maryville who has a nice shooting stroke from 3-point range. She can play off the ball and knock down triples off the catch or she can also create her own shot off the dribble with her good ball handling ability. She has good quickness and a nice feel for the game at both ends of the court.
Carly Dameron: A 6’1″ 2024 forward from the Wichita area who has good mobility and can handle herself inside very well. She seals well and she can make a move over either shoulder. She does a good job of playing off two feet in the lane and she also has a nice spin move in traffic to get herself a bucket. She is also a good passer who can thread the needle in the interior with a nice dime. She is also a solid defender who is an effective shot blocker.
Jaiden Jordan: A 2025 guard from Gardner-Edgerton (KS) who was playing up a year with this very talented team. She is a solid ball handler who plays with good pace with the ball in her hands. She can also knock down the open 3-pointer.
Kenzie Nelson: A 5’7″ 2026 guard from Hiawatha (KS) who is a capable shooter from 3-point range. She was also very solid on the defensive end while playing up at the 17U level.
Brekyn Scanlon: A 2026 point guard from Oak Park who is played up at the 17U level but was able to hold her own with her good fundamentals and high energy. She is a solid ball handler and passer who could knock down open 3-pointers.
