It is a talented group of young ladies that play fast and apply full-court defensive pressure throughout the game. After watching a few of their games from the Run 4 the Roses Classic in Louisville, here are some observations on the individual players that we watched.
Brianna Aviles: A 5’9″ 2025 forward from Fort Osage who is a solid inside player. The young lefty catches the ball well inside and she keeps the ball up and finishes well off the glass. She also does a good job of making her free throws. She is mobile and she runs the court well. When she gets the rebound, she will also throw a nice outlet pass upcourt to start the fast break. She also has active hands on the defensive end and she plays the passing lanes well.
Merideth Billings: A 5’9″ 2025 forward from Bonner Springs (KS) who is a solid player who does the little things that help her team succeed. She is a good screener and she does a good job blocking out for rebounding position. She is very active inside in the post at both ends of the court.
Rylee Carr Rylee Carr 5'9" | SF Platte County R-3 | 2026 MO : A 5’8″ 2026 guard from Platte County who is an impressive athlete who can attack the basket effectively going with her right or left hand. She is very good in the open court in transition and she also hit the open 3-pointer from the corner. She could also grab a defensive rebound and go coast to coast with the ball. She was also very effective on defense on the second line of the full court press with her ability to anticipate and get steals in rotation.
Kara Durso Kara Durso 5'10" | SG Liberty North | 2026 MO : A 5’10 2026 forward from Liberty North who played with an impressive motor at both ends of the court. She was attacking the basket and seeking the contact, whether she was in the low post or getting downhill off the dribble. She could also step out and knock down open 3-pointers. She rebounded the ball well and she was very active on the defensive end.
Maecy Hinkebein Maecy Hinkebein 5'6" | PG St Pius X | 2026 MO : A 5’7″ 2026 guard from Kansas City St. Pius X who played with a lot of energy at both ends of the court. She directs traffic on offense well and she can distribute the basketball with court vision. She played with good pace with the ball in her hands. She scored on some nice penetrating drives to the basket. She is also solid defensively as she moves her feet well and keeps ball handlers in front of her.
Ava Jensen Ava Jensen 5'10" | C Liberty North | 2026 MO : A 5’9″ 2026 forward from Liberty North who does an excellent job on the interior. She posts up well and gives a nice target to enter the ball. She can score on a drop step and she also has a nice spin move off the drive to get to the basket. She also cuts well without the ball and she is a willing screener. On defense, she is active and she does a good job at rotating to the right spots. She is also very active on the boards.
Payton Lutz: A 5’6″ 2026 guard from Liberty North who is a very effective offensive player. She is a capable 3-point shooter who can also attack the close out with an aggressive drive into the lane. She also makes effective use of ball fakes to free herself from defenders and go on the attack. She can also hit a nice pull up jumper from the elbow off the dribble.
Isabella Norgren Isabella Norgren 5'6" | SG Liberty | 2026 MO : A 5’6″ 2026 guard who can make the open 3-pointer off the catch. She is an active defensive player on the top of her team’s full court pressure defense. She moves well and gets deflections. She also has good defensive instincts in the halfcourt offense with her ability to rotate into the right spots to get a steal or a block.
Allyson Smith Allyson Smith 5'7" | PG North Platte | 2026 State MO : A 5’5″ 2026 guard from North Platte who has a very nice feel for the game. She handles the ball well and she made several nifty passes with either hand on the move. She also does very well in the pick and roll as a passer or with the ability to get downhill on the dribble. She will also go inside and post up strong to get an inside bucket. She has a strong motor on defense with her active hands and ability to get deflections.
