Alani Thompson
Alani Thompson
I had the opportunity to watch Id3ntity Elite 2027 play twice on Friday and this young team performed completely different in game 2, much to the credit of 2029 PG, Alani Thompson. Alani is a true floor general and from start to finish, she played with complete poise and a very high IQ. She was unfazed while competing against bigger, older and more experienced players. She handled the ball extremely well under pressure and most impressive was the way she kept her teammates involved and her court vision! She was able to control the pace of the game every time she had the ball in her hands and it was refreshing to see such a young player display fundamentally sound skills. Thompson’s on ball defense is nothing short of stellar as it did not matter who she was guarding as she suffocated any player in front of her. Alani finished the game with 9 assists and 5 steals! She will only be in the 7th grade this coming year but Alani Thompson is a name that everyone should get familiar with!
Hazel Ozueh
Hazel Ozueh
Hazel was a force inside and nearly unstoppable when she got the ball in the paint. She has a very nice touch around the rim and she knows how to use her size and strength to her advantage in order to position herself where she needs to be. She definitely knows how to score as she finished game 2 with 30 points but more than the points, the aspect of her game that truly separated her from the other players was her hustle. Hazel will be an exciting player to follow as she is just now scratching the surface of her full potential!
Demi Daingerfield
Demi Daingerfield
Demi is a skilled guard who shoots the ball well from a variety of spots on the floor. She is able to hit shots from deep off the catch & shoot but also knows how to create shots when the defense is playing her too close. Demi had a solid performance in game 2, finishing with 14 points, 3 assists and 2 steals.
Emily Sims
Emily Sims
Emily is tough! She played up in the 11th/12th grade division and she looked right at home! — her shots may not have fallen as they usually do but she got to the basket a couple of times and she did not allow a few missed baskets deter her in any way. She kept her teammates involved throughout the game and she was locked in on defense. Sims made numerous stops with her “in your face” defense and her hustle was unmatched – chasing down loose balls, scrambling on the floor to regain possession and if her opponents made a lazy pass, she was right there to make sure they paid for it.
