The PGH Florida Freshman Showcase took place Sunday August 13 and some of the state’s top Freshman assembled to compete against each other. We break down every single player that participated in the event, next up is team 2.
Aleyah Hall Aleyah Hall 5'7" | SG Solid Rock Community | 2027 State FL (JW Mitchell / Yeti Select) 5’7 Guard
Hall is a 5’7 combo guard that can knock down open 3s with time. Don’t let her quiet demeanor full you as she plays hard and competes. She plays a bit high both with the ball in her hands and on the defensive end. I would like to see her get lower in a defensive stance and drop her hips and bend her knees with the ball in her hands to be more explosive off the bounce. She had a solid performance and has high upside.
Alexandria Nichols Alexandria Nichols 5'3" | CG Land O Lakes | 2027 State FL (Land O Lakes / Skill Center) 5’3 Guard
Nichols proved herself to be a solid point guard who plays under control and does not turn the ball over. At 5’3, she can put the ball to the floor both left and right and changes speed and direction with her eyes up the floor looking to find the open player. She wants to be a distributor, initiating offense and getting the ball to scorers. She can utilize her height to her advantage as defenders really have to get low to guard her and keep her out of the paint. I’d like to see her play with more confidence and be more aggressive.
Harmeni Eugene Harmeni Eugene 5'7" | PG Cardinal Gibbons | 2027 State FL (Cardinal Gibbons / Below the Rim) 5’7 Guard
Eugene was one of the most athletic players in the showcase with a long, slender build. She played very aggressive and wanted to get to the rack off the bounce. In the paint, she was a creative finisher and elevated with the ability to finish high at the rim. She is an athlete that has the ability to fly all over the court. She gets end to end with and without the ball in a flash! I liked how she played with a strong competitiveness and desire to win. She played hard every possession on both ends of the floor.
Sienna Williams Sienna Williams 5'8" | PF Bishop Kenny | 2027 State FL (Bishop Kenny / First Coast) 5’8 Guard
Williams is a tough shooting guard who moved well without the ball. In a showcase format where a lot of players played 1v1 and needed the ball in her hands, Williams found didn’t need the ball in her hands to score. She competed and played hard every possession and spaced the floor consistently and was ready to shoot from the wing and the baseline.
Asiana McCreary Asiana McCreary 6'1" | SF Bartram | 2027 State FL (Bartram Trail / East Coast United ) 6’1 Forward
McCreary was one of the top post players in the event. She has great size and sealed well on the low block using her size and strength to get great position. She scored utilizing a drop step over her left shoulder and finishing with her right hand consistently. At 6’1, she is very versatile and moves well for her size defending both interior players and perimeter players.
Omaria Sterling (Fort Pierce Central / Florida All Stars) 5’4 Guard
Sterling is a small guard who plays hard and was an aggressive on ball defender. She can handle the ball going both left and right and likes to play in transition and attack off the bounce going down hill to the rim.
Avery Adams (Steinbrenner / Candace Parker Ace’s) 5’7 Wing
Adams has a long, slender build with a high upside. She attacked going right from the wing and baseline well. She has range to 15 feet and can also pull up off the dribble and get to the rim.
Evelyn Juden Evelyn Juden 5'10" | PG Celebration | 2027 State FL (Celebration HS) 5‘8 Wing
Juden is a long, smooth wing who played unselfish. She sees the floor well and willingly makes the extra pass and often finds the open player looking to advance the ball up the court to open players. She has good size and a high IQ and rebounded well from the guard spot.
Kimora Exum Kimora Exum 5'4" | PG NSU University | 2027 State FL (NSU University HS) 5’4 Guard
Exum is a small, aggressive penetrating guard who looked to attack in transition and in the half court often to get to the rim. She wants to get out in transition either attacking with the ball in her hands or running the floor without the ball. She is a very bouncy with quick hops and excellent athleticism and gets off the floor quickly.
