All four of the PGH Kentucky scouts/writers were in the building and we all walked away very impressed by this class. There’s bound to be players mentioned in multiple articles by different scouts, but every player deserves to have something written about them after their showing on Saturday. When I was trying to decide how to break down these articles, I ultimately decided to turn the notes I had for each player at the event into a series of articles. I’m putting them out numerically based on jersey number, so below you will find the notes I had down for #216-222 (note: #217 was not in attendance).
Hailey Conder
5’5 | Guard | South Central Jr-Sr HS (IN) | Louisville Jaguars
#216 – Showed she has good quickness and speed. Plays with a high motor. Great form on shot. Solid handles and moves with the ball.
Adrianna Brown
5’6 | Guard | Great Crossing HS
#218 – Athleticism is off the charts. Good vision and made good passes. Very shifty handles. Consistently scored inside and out. Got past defenders at will. Created well for teammates. Good fakes got defenders to shift. Really was a consistent standout throughout the day.
Sara Jenkins
5’6 | Guard | Morgan County HS | Arctic Rush
#219 – Love how she was playing fearless and being vocal on the court. Made good passes off the bounce. Stayed strong on drives. Set good screens to get teammates open. Strong passer and sees the floor well.
Cadence Compton
5’6 | Guard | Pikeville HS
#220 – Consistently ran the floor well. Was constantly getting in on rebounds. Love how strong she was on box outs, holding off players and going after the boards hard. Knocked down some nice outside shots. Made good drives.
Selena Chen
5’7 | Guard | Nelson County HS | Lady Vision
#221 – Typically having to come from outside of the perimeter, she was hustling to get to rebounds. Stayed strong on the boards and really worked to make sure she was in the right position. Didn’t give up on plays. Did good job of moving feet to stay in front defensively. Wasn’t forcing shots, but showed she can knock them down.
Kaylin Kathmann
5’7 | Guard | Batesville HS (IN) | Kentucky Blue Devils
#222 – Made really good decisions throughout the day. Strong ball handler and can use her quick first step to get past defenders consistently. Finished some nice floaters in the paint and recognized when to pull up before getting too deep. Also made some really strong drives to the rim. Finished well with both hands. Made good cuts and forced the defense to make tough decisions on how to guard her.
