Our rankings update every three months. Prep Girls Hoops Florida scout Ross Van De Griek will be breaking down the top five players in each position for each class. This week we have our focus on the rising juniors.
The 6-0 power forward is coming off a stellar sophomore season on both the high school and AAU circuits. Kitts continues to develop her game and being more versatile on the floor whether it’s finishing around the rim or shooting from the mid-range. Kitts has also improved her defensive rebounding ability as she averaged nearly nine rebounds per game last season, helping lead Faith Christian to their first state championship in school history.
The 6-2 rising junior will have a new core of teammates this upcoming season, as she transferred from Windermere Prep to Sarasota during the off-season. Miller plays a strong inside-out game where she steps up on multiple occasions and can knock down shots from the perimeter. Miller can also be a viable threat on the interior where she is able to finish around the basket on both sides at a high rate. Miller also is a tenacious rebounder where opponents will rarely get any second chance scoring opportunities.
Highlights
The 5-11 wing has great size, can score on all three levels and defend multiple positions. She has a great combo where she brings skill as well and moves exceptionally well with her quickness. Farley is also a huge threat on the perimeter where she knocks down shots at a great rate. Excited for Farley to see the upside she brings heading into her junior season.
Highlights
The 6-2 power forward is not your traditional back to the basket type of player. Shaw adds speed and length where she is a great rebounder and shot blocker. On the offensive end, Shaw has a smooth mid-range jumper and can score in a variety of ways. She is also an excellent driver to the basket and finishes efficiently on both sides. Shaw can also run the floor exceptionally well and finish in transition at a high level.
The 6-0 rising junior power forward has a smooth inside-out game where she can connect from beyond the arc on numerous occasions. Last season as a sophomore, Gardner averaged a near double-double with 10 points, 8.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and nearly four steals per game. Gardner also has a smooth handle who can finish coast-to-coast on either end of the floor and finish effectively. She also adds versatility on the defensive end where she can often be seen guarding multiple positions.
