Alexa Goertz Alexa Goertz 5'9" | SG James Valley Christian | 2025 State SD – James Valley Christian – 5’9 – Tall, athletic, and not afraid to take it to the rim. Gets the job done on both ends of the court and has 2 years of varsity basketball experience. This past year averaged 12.3 points, 6.5 rebounds 1.3 assists and 2 steals a game. Alexa is a skilled hooper that can hurt teams in a multitide of ways. She shot 35% from the field this past year and has done nothing but excell since the 8th grade. She’s my pick for starting at the 1 spot.
Mya Kochuten Mya Kochuten 5'6" | PG Spearfish | 2025 State SD – Spearfish – 5’7 – Mya is a 5’7 bucket! She averaged 13.4 points, 4 rebounds and a steal a game this past season. What these stats don’t show you are her decision making skills. Mya is proficient scorer who shot 41% from the field and 42% from beyond the arc this past season. The motto is simple. You can’t stop what can’t miss!
Katelyn Schroeder Katelyn Schroeder 6'0" | SF Hitchcock-Tulare | 2025 State SD – Hitchcock-Tulare – 6′ – My favorite position on the court and absolute dark horse of a player Katelyn is a worker! A guard that’s 6ft and can handle the rock under pressure as well get any shot she desires on the court. This past season Katelyn averaged 14.8 points, 2 assists, 8.2 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block a game. She’s an athlete that can hurt a team in so many ways by her presence alone and someone that can guard the 2-5 religiously in having quick feet to keep infront of faster guards. She’s a must watch this coming year!
Josie Jones – Philips – 5’8 – Josie is an undersized big that’s more of a stretch in my opinion. Can hit shots consistantly from mid-range, but struggles from deep. A quick twitch forward that’s got an explosive first step in attacking the rim, but needs better body control. As she progresses she’ll mold more into a 2-4 spot at the next level, but with an addition of a consistant jump shot will make one deadly offensive threat. This past year she averaged 8.9 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.6 steals a game.
Thomiah Poor Bear Thomiah Poor Bear 5'11" | PF Rapid City Stevens | 2025 State SD – Kadoka – 5’11 – A big body center that is a pleasure to watch. Thomiah averaged 7.1 points, 6.3 rebounds 2 steals and 1 block a game last year. She’s physical and hungry for the ball. An absolute bully in the post with a surprisingly nice jumper. She shot nearly 70% from the charity strike and 32% from the field last year. She’s a double double player that gets half her boards from the offensive side and a no brainer to start at Center for team 2.
That’s all for my South Dakota All-Juniors squad. Next article will focus on seniors using the same metrics and statistical values we’ve been using thus far. Until then stay hungry!
