Jaelyn Wendt Jaelyn Wendt 6'1" | C Harding County | 2024 State SD – Newell – 6’1 – Physical, relentless and a defensive nightmare. Jaelyn is a traditional 5 that’s got an arsenal of moves around the rim and can finish with the best of them playing aggressive basketball… Sometimes too aggressive, but none the less if you love a paint beast then this one is for you! A real double-double type of player that is going to play hard in the post and gets a lot of put back buckets off offensive boards. Given Jaelyn’s natural athleticism and strength I can see her being a college ready prospect that’s willing to excel any program that takes her at the next level. If you’re a collegiate coach reading this article, I highly recommend checking her out next season.
Mya Determan Mya Determan 6'0" | C Gregory | 2024 State SD – Gregory – 6′ – High energy, high octane mobile big that can really get up and down the court in a hurry. Another traditional big that plays back to the basket. Determan is strong, physical and will fight you for the ball if she has too. She supplied a spark off the bench during her sophomore season and really turned up the knob the last year getting out and battling with some of the other big’s in the state. Determan is no push over and a player that if you like raw physicality and brute force is a must watch this coming season.
Elizabeth Heinen Elizabeth Heinen 6'1" | C Huron | 2024 State SD – Huron – 6’1 – Elizabeth is a raw prospect that has increased her time over the past couple of seasons. I have no doubt her contributions to her squad this year will be bigger than ever. She’s got a nice frame for 6’1 and moves up and down the court at a good pace. Elizabeth needs to work on polishing her inside game more and being more relentless around the basket, demanding for the ball when switched onto for a mismatch and playing more tenacity. I believe this year could be big for her playing the steep AA conference.
Jaycee Baruth – Sanborn Central – 5’10 – More of a forward, but Jaycee has all the tools to be a successful Center. She’s got decent size and plays big inside. She moves her feet well and surprisingly has a sweet looking jump shot. Jaycee is a mobile big that can attack the rim finishing strong or pull up from 15 to 24 ft out. On the year she averaged nearly 6 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal a game. Shooting wise she shot 37% from the field and 33% from beyond the arc. Jaycee’s role is sure to increase this coming year and she could be a real dark horse player for this Sanborn squad.
Dakota Flanery Dakota Flanery 6'2" | C Arlington | 2024 State SD – Arlington – 6’2 – A 6’2 raw athlete! Dakota has a lot of upsides to her game. She’s really developed into a solid role player for her squad and will be seeing increased numbers this season. She’s physical and can move well on the block. She doesn’t possess an extreme amount of post moves, but definitely knows the nuances to the post game. I truly think Dakota could average a double-double this coming season with how much she’s grown over the past two seasons. She’s still a raw prospect, but one that could be a difference maker at the collegiate level for coaches that are looking for a mold-able big.
