Offers have gone out, visits have been made – who has recently made decisions as to where they will attend college?
Class of 2023
Gaby Dumas (American Heritage) – Florida Memorial University
Dumas, a 5’5 guard, is staying local and will attend Florida Memorial University and suit it up for the Lions this coming winter. Dumas was a key component of American Heritage backcourt the last few years. She is a pesky defender that attacks off the bounce and can knock down the 3.
Class of 2024
Jada Eads Jada Eads 5'6" | PG Lake Highland Prep | 2024 State FL (Lake Highland Prep) – Seton Hall
Eads has been one of the top guards in the state for several years with Wekiva and Lake Highland Prep. The 5’7 Guard had a great showing with CFE 17U 3SSB Team – Grant Hill this summer and is headed to Seton Hall in New Jersey.
Lexi Blue Lexi Blue 6'1" | SF Lake Highland Prep | 2024 State FL (Lake Highland Prep) – Virginia Tech
Blue is one of the most versatile players in the country and was a hot commodity amongst a number of college programs from coast to coast. The 6’0 Wing put her skill, athleticism, and length on display with CFE 17U 3SSB Team – Grant Hill on the Adidas circuit and takes her talents to Virginia Tech.
Sophia McCartney Sophia McCartney 6'1" | C Neumann | 2024 State FL (St. John Neumann Catholic HS) – Army
McCartney was one of the top rising front court players on the 3SSB circuit as she performed consistently in the paint for CFE 17U 3SSB Team – Grant Hill. She takes her talents to West Point and will suit up for Army.
Malayna Stevenson Malayna Stevenson 5'11" | SF Gateway | 2024 State FL (Gateway HS) – University of Tampa
Stevenson was very, very good on the UAA circuit for FGB . The 5’11 wing has deep 3-point range, is a skilled offensive player that helps promote ball movement, floor spacing, and a balanced offensive attack. Stevenson is staying local and will attend the University of Tampa next season!
Sienna Dauer Sienna Dauer 5'10" | CG IMG Academy | 2024 State FL (IMG Academy) – Davidson
Dauer is a big, skilled, versatile perimeter player that has a high basketball IQ and can play multiple positions. She was a top performer on the UAA circuit for FGB and after taking a number of visits to campuses, elected to verbally commit to Davidson.
Clare Coyle Clare Coyle 6'1" | PF Bishop Kenny | 2024 State FL (Bishop Kenny) – Furman
Coyle has great height and can play the wing and the forward spots. She is very comfortable playing face up and has performed at a high level for Bishop Kenny helping lead them to Lakeland this past season and followed that up playing at a high level for East Coast United Family 2024. The 6’0 Wing/Forward verbally committed to Furman.
McKenna Murphy McKenna Murphy 5'6" | SG Boone | 2024 State FL (Boone HS) – Rollins College
Murphy, 5’6 Guard has been one of the top players in her conference for Boone HS the last few years. She has elected to stay local and committed to Rollins College and will hoop it up in the very competitive Sunshine State Conference.
Nicole Carreno Nicole Carreno 5'10" | SF Seffner Christian | 2024 State FL (Seffner Christian) – University of North Florida
Carreno is 6’0 Forward with a high basketball IQ, strong skill set, 3 point range, and excellent passing skills. The has been one of the core players for Seffner Christian the last 3 years. She recently committed to the University of North Florida and new first year head coach Erika Lambert.
Tatiana Matthews Tatiana Matthews 5'9" | CG Dunnellon HS | 2024 State FL (Dunnellon HS) – Colgate
Matthews, a 5’9 athletic guard averaged 30.7 points per game and recently committed to Colgate University in Hamilton, New York. An extremely talented perimeter player with major scoring ability also showcased her ability to play PG and run a team for FGB on the UAA circuit picking up multiple offers this spring and summer before choosing Colgate stating “Colgate University was the best opportunity as far as academics,” Matthews said. “At one point, the basketball has to stop bouncing. With it being a prestigious and Division I school, it was the best option.”
Sydney Martin (Naples HS) – Belmont Abbey
Martin, can play both the shooting guard and wing spots. At 6’1, she has great height and uses it well to shoot over the top of defenses. She has been stellar for Naples HS since she stepped on campus and is headed to Belmont Abbey after her Senior season.
Yanija Lawson (Spruce Creek HS) – St. Francis
Lawson is long, athletic and plays hard. At 5’11, she crashes the boards, runs the floor and is very active, consistently being around the ball. She has helped Spruce Creek be one of the top teams in the state and is headed to St. Francis next season.
Class of 2025
Rocio Jimenez (Central Pointe Academy) – Mississippi State
Jimenez, a 6’7 Center became one of the first members of the class of 2025 to make a decision when she verbally committed to Mississippi State and Head Coach Sam Purcell. Her inside presence and big time height were major factors in MSU offering early and Jimenez committing early.
