Many high school basketball players put everything they have into their sport and deserve to celebrate the work that they put into the game. This Labor Day Day, we will look at some of the hardest working players in Michigan.
Let’s be real for a minute. A person’s basketball game doesn’t just blossom the way hers has in the last year and a half without some serious hard work. The ball skills and the understanding of and ability to utilize her length on the defensive end…..those don’t come for free. Destiny Washington Destiny Washington 5’6″ | PG West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI is nothing less than a tribute to where hard work can take you in athletics. A year or so ago she was an underrated guard that some people told me to watch out for. Fast forward to today and a hundred or so spots higher in the prospect rankings and you’ll see one of the best point guards in the state. Washington is a selfless leader that can handle and dish with the best of them.
Check the boy’s Labor Day Special because I wrote this same thing about MJ Yeager. Give me 5 Tayla Dllard’s and you’re handing me championships. She plays with as much grit as any player in the state of Michigan. She’s willing to sacrifice and lay it all on the line for her team. You can see it in the way Dillard attacks the glass and plays off contact in the mid range.

I’ve been a huge fan of Freshcorn’s game and what she brings to the table for a while now. A big part of that is the work ethic and heart that she trains and plays with. I know that if Freshcorn steps on the basketball court, I’m going to see her go after it. She’s a leader that’s always respected by peers and teammates. That type of respect isn’t just handed out, but earned through work and determination.

Winowiecki is a perfect example for players coming up in the future. She’s an example of why players should believe in themselves and believe in the hard work that they put into their games. Look what that did for Winowiecki. She’s gone from no offers to a handful of really good ones because she believed in herself and kept working. People saw her game this summer. Yeah, they saw that she could shoot. That was pretty obvious. But it was Winowiecki’s heart and determination that stood out above all else.
