Lyla Stein Lyla Stein 5'6" | CG Bedford (NH) | 2025 State New E , High School Bedford (NH), Class 2025, HT 5’8, Position G
Lyla might have been one of the top defenders at the expo. She really stood out defensively, with her on ball defense, and her active hands in the passing lanes. She got her hands on a countless number of passes leading to fast breaks for her team. She did a good job cutting off driving angles, and really worked hard on the defensive side of the ball. I saw her dive on the floor a couple of times as well. On offense I saw her abilities to finish well with her left hand, and she had a few nice off hand finishes.
Angelys Alvarez Angelys Alvarez 5'4" | PG Winchendon | 2027 New E , High School Winchendon, Class 2027, HT 5’4, Position PG
Angelys might have been the most skilled offensive player from the expo. She has reclassed and is only a Freshman. Angelys plays really hard, and with high energy. She had a variety of crafty finishing moves, over bigger defenders at the rim on display. She has a good floater, and I think that is a very valuable move for a smaller Guard. She also showed her outside shooting skills, and might have had 7 three’s in one of the games. She is a true Point Guard, that sees the floor well, and has good handles. Angelys is a fun player to watch.
Emma Garapetian, High School Watertown, HT 5’10. Position CG, Class 2024
The 5’10 Combo Guard showed her abilities to stretch the floor, and shoot or attack off the dribble. Emma was effective playing on or off the ball throughout the day. She was able to create her own shot, and also set her teammates up. She has one play where she took it the full length of the court for a layup. Emma helped her team go undefeated on the day. Emma is coming off injuries, so add her to your radar, and look for this to be her breakout season.
Sydney Shaw, Position High School Fryeburg Academy, HT 5’8, Position PG, class 2024.
Sydney might have been the most vocal player of the event. She was an extension of the coach on the floor. When Sydney was on the bench I was impressed with her positive energy and body language. These are things that coaches find very valuable, and do not overlook. Sydney is what you want in your teams floor general. She has good size for the position, and can be a scorer, or a facilitator. She can shoot from the outside, get to the rim or set her teammates up. Sydney made a couple of hard face cuts, leading to her getting a layup. Sydney has a high basketball IQ, and is an uncommitted prospect coaches should watch.
Brianna Whitelaw Brianna Whitelaw 5'7" | SG Quabbin Regional | 2024 New E , Quabbin Regional, HT 5’7, Position G, Class 2024,
Brianna was key down the stretch on both sides of the floor. She made some big stops defensively, and also made some timely buckets late in the games. Brianna is a good three point shooter, and moves well without the ball. She can handle the ball, and I thought her shot selection and decision making was strong throughout the event. She was also aggressive on defense. Brianna is another uncommitted prospect from the event, coach should watch.
