The Lobos have a nice history of success within the last 7 years making an appearance at state twice so there no stranger to winning. This past season proved to be a rollercoaster ride for the young talented squad. They saw team highs with a win over a tough Carrington squad and lows taking an L against Enderlin. The Lobos have a lot to look forward to in having such a compact young squad. They’ll no doubt look to senior leader Tessa Rasmusson Tessa Rasmusson 5'8" | SG LaMoure-Litchville/Marion | 2024 State ND to lead the charge this year. Rasmusson has been a big-time player for the Lobos since her freshman year and has proved to be a deadly shooter from deep. She’s got the poise to the lead this young squad backed behind with some serious grit and talent.
Aside from Tessa the Lobos feature rising star Norah DelaBarre Norah DelaBarre 5'9" | PF LaMoure | 2026 State ND as well emerging freshmen Addison Smith and Julia DelaBarre. Julia is an emerging player for LaMoure that plays close to the same game as Norah. Julia is a more back to the basket player but can knock down the occasional shot. She’s not as polished as Norah, but with some fine tuning will be a nice addition to the team. Addison is a solid guard that can hurt you defensively. She’s got solid length and knows how to zoom around the court. I’d like to see her get a bit more aggressive this year and more up in the opponent she’s guarding, but definitely a player to watch out for this year. Lastly, we have Norah DelaBaree. A solid guard/forward hybrid that’s a 3-level scorer. She can put her opponent under the rim or hit from outside much like Tessa. She’s a solid ball handler that I’d like to see attack the rim a bit more offensively and add a few moves to her arsenal when finishing around the rim. I think she’s going to be a well-polished player by the time she’s a senior and really add to this LaMoure depth that they have going on. Just a couple years ago they lost a huge senior class so the rebuild is constant. I think this year will be a solid campaign for the Lobos though.
In conclusion I think the LaMoure Lobos are still a team to be reckoned with. They’ve got a lot of talented ladies coming up that played a healthy number of minutes last season as they were trying to figure out what worked and what didn’t. I think with a solid summer and ample amount of time to set in stone how they want to play this season that they figured out a good algorithm to win the winnable games and play close in those tightly contested ones that’ll come against EKM, Kidder County and even Linton HMB. Only time will tell how this young Lobo squad holds up… But I’m predicting they figured out the sauce and take second behind EKM for District 2.
