Grice was one of those players I caught a glimpse of at the TABC event and her being around 6’5 immediately grabbed my attention. She has a college-ready body, she moves well on both ends and she also was not only “long and athletic” but “strong and athletic”. Her rebounding on both was solid, she scored on putbacks, as well as around the basket and her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots was also nice. She did a good job defending inside the paint but I was impressed with her stepping outside of it to guard her man
Anisobi is electrifying at times, first of all, she’s long and somewhat “ultra athletic” and watching her elevate around the basket to score over defenders has been a pleasure. She also scores off the dribble, strong finishes after contact, sometimes acrobatic can change the complexion of a games momentum. She also has a nice midrange jumper but on the flip, her defense in the set as well as baseline to baseline shows her versatility. She can rebound on both ends and handle the ball the length of the court afterward
Wilson falls into the “blue collar worker” class which deserves the #THROWBACK hashtag. Her mindset is “you won’t outwork me” has stood out from the first times I saw her play and it has remained constant. She BATTLES for everything off the rim, she dives on the floor for loose balls, she applies pressure on defense, both in and outside the paint and she understands how to use her athleticism on both ends of the court as she attacks the basket strongly off the dribble. She also finishes after contact, I didn’t mention she scores on putbacks as well, but her scoring facing the basket is also nice
Cooper is another “long and athletic” player, I failed to mention that is what I call the base earlier and one of the profiles I love to evaluate, more importantly, so do next level coaches and they offer opportunities to play and she has definitely seized the opportunity to impress over the years. She does so many things well, her timing and playing the passing lane are always on point, yet her interior defense as well as “on the ball” pressure has improved each season. She scores around the basket, as well as facing it, yet her court vision also needs to be mentioned
Highlights
Igiehon left me speechless when I caught her for the first time over the club season and she falls into that #TalentIsEverywhere I started dropping over a decade ago. She’s powerful around the basket, on both ends and she had me smiling as she scored with players literally hanging on her. She also rebounded with authority, on both ends, stayed after the ball off the rim, even scored on putbacks. She ran the floor, on both ends and also did a good job defending inside the paint but showed her athleticism by applying heat outside of it in the set
