The Class of 2024 is getting ready to begin the last Winter of their high school careers, as teams are two weeks away from their first official practices for the 2023-2024 season. Last week, we released our updated rankings for 2024. We did not expand the list at all, so there is still a Top-100 and a watch list of another 125 prospects, forming a total of 225 members of the Class of 2024 listed on Prep Girls Hoops Indiana. This quarter is more of a maintenance update heading into the high school season, but we will expand the list one final time around Christmas. Below, I wanted to highlight all of the 2-guards/off-guards/shooting guards in the class who we currently have listed, as well as highlight a handful of ladies who stood out throughout the Summer and early Fall.

SUMMER/FALL STOCK-RISERS & ANY NEWCOMERS:

– Amaya has continually improved her skill over the years, and while she is known as a shooter, she has done a nice job of handling the ball recently and facilitating to open teammates. I will likely move her into more of a combo guard position listing next time around. She is still a high-level shooter who you almost have to chase around the floor, but she is also quick, fast, and fairly athletic, plus she can be a pest at times defensively.

– There aren’t many people outside of Northeast Indiana familiar with Janiya’s game. Last Winter, she averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.7 steals per game, and she could approach 20 points per game this Winter. She has broad shoulders, a fairly strong & athletic frame, nice length, and she has really nice North/South speed. She is definitely an attacker first, and she tries to turn corners quickly, but she also made 36 3-pointers last season.

– Kamara put together an outstanding Spring & Summer grassroots season, and she earned her Division-I opportunity from Queens in North Carolina. She has nice length, an athletic frame, and she is quick, fast, and bouncy. She is one of the best defenders in the state, regardless of class, and she is a nice finisher around the basket. She also shot 32% from 3-point range and 78% from the line last Winter, and those continue to improve.

– Ava was solid in the Spring, but she was even stronger and more confident during the Summer months. She is young for her grade, so she is just finishing growing and gaining strength. However, she has really nice length, she’s a fairly fluid athlete, and she is playing with a lot more physicality. She’s probably best as a perimeter shooter, but she can handle and attack the basket a little, and she uses her length to finish over taller players.

– I commented a lot on Heaven in the Spring, and she continued her strong play throughout the Summer. She is a strong and physical wing, she plays with nice grit and toughness, and she has a great motor. She can bury shots from the perimeter, she’s an effective downhill driver, plus she rebounds and defends her position well. Heaven spent her first three years at Roncalli, but she is now at Decatur Central, where her residence is located.
