SubscribeAttention! At-Ease. Left-Left-Left-Right-Left. The Hendersonville Lady Commandos are ready to ball out this year and march into contention. Posting a 17-8 overall record and were 9-1 in the district, these ladies are looking to build upon the foundation and success that has been laid. After their final season loss to Green Hill, the girls recapped and looked at it as something that got away. This summer it was back to the drawing board bringing an even hungrier mindset to the table, with an emphasis on skill development and team camaraderie . These Lady Commandos are looking to go further this year and they have the leaders to do so.
Though last year started off rocky, Coach Kelli Reed stayed the course and turned this ship the right way. Her coaching ability and style of play enabled the girls to settle in and they busted through the gates. This season, Coach is ready to” release the hounds” and let her team attack from tip. When I tell you these girls are hungry, it’s in everything they do. It’s in their swagger in the way they walk, it’s the way they talk, it’s how they went about attacking summer and offseason challenges. They put in that work, that’s for sure. Look for them to come out this season like gangbusters and shake up the district. This year is going to be a good one for the ladies north of Nashville.
Attention! Here are some Lady Commandos from Hendersonville you will need to keep tabs on.
Areya Rice Areya Rice 5'6" | PG Hendersonville | 2024 State TN (5’4/Sr./G)– Strong and mighty, this senior is ready to go out with a bang. A multi-level scoring threat, she uses her speed to create havoc. She gets paint touches, knocks down shots from the field, and locks opponents up on the defensive end the full length of the floor. A selfless leader who leaves everything she has between the lines. Hard nose player, she’s a fearless leader who is going to lead these troops. Look for her to come into this senior season with something to prove. She’s built to withstand , take on, and compete against any opponent. Solid prospect who will go out and leave her mark on the game.
Abbie Fuqua Abbie Fuqua 5'6" | SG Hendersonville | 2024 State TN (5’6/Sr./G)– Solid competitor who loves to compete. Nice left-handed release that she unleashes from the mid-range and from beyond the arc. Plays the game the right way, doing all the little things to contribute to her team’s success. When defending, you see her in a stance, top hand mirroring the ball, other hand in passing lanes. She gets tips, 50/50 balls, plus more. She’s on the boards, starting transition breaks as well. Solid kid who is going to use this senior season to launch herself towards something bigger. Look for her to compete all 32 minutes and make an impact for her ball club.
Ilaiah Mack (5’7/So./G)– Young shooter who will look to carve out her niche this upcoming season with more playing time. She’s a fierce competitor that is in the mix on everything. Defense, rebounding, going after loose balls, those things plus so much more, this girl is around. Offensively, she’s money from the arc. Consistently hitting the bottom of the net, this girl will get many opportunities to spot up and unleash her shot. Don’t get me wrong, she can put it on the floor as well, but it’s splash country if she is on the perimeter. Great young prospect whose confidence is shooting up the charts. With her getting more court time, look for her to be a solid contributor this upcoming season.
