I was able to attend the event on Saturday, Oct. 21 and here’s a look at some additional standouts I saw.
1.
Jeda Taylor

– LA Marshall 2024
Taylor is a versatile forward with a strong skill-set. She can handle the ball, especially in transition. She’s comfortable as a primary shot creator. Her offensive strength lies in her ability to get to the basket and to post up against smaller defenders. She can snatch rebounds and start the fast break. A finisher at the basket. She creates transition opportunities with her defense as well. Good shot blocker.
2.
Malia Yu

Yu stood out as a ball-handling forward. She has good height and length and is very mobile. Able to start the fast break off her own rebounding. She’s hard to stop when she’s attacking downhill. She can get to the basket and draw contact to get to the free-throw line. Good player in transition.
3.
Justine Mejia

– Arleta 2025
Mejia was one of the top rebounders I saw at the event. She positions herself well and eon a good job using her size to grab boards; follows up misses on the offensive glass. She has shot creating skill in the mid-post; she can post up and turn and make an aggressive move to the basket. Nice short jumper in the midrange. Can shoot off screens or off the dribble and has three-point range.
4. Steffany Gomez – North Hollywood 2025
Gomez was a bit of a guard/forward hybrid. She had the size of a forward but some guard skills such as ball-handing in transition. She was active all game and played with a ton of energy making hustle plays. She moves off ball and makes strong cuts around the basket. She had skill on the glass too sneaking and positioning herself well for rebounds.
