I was able to attend the event on Saturday, Oct. 21 and here’s a look at some additional standouts I saw.
1.
Mia Ceja

Ceja is a strong point guard who can play a little shooting guard as well. Good court vision with perfect, on target passes to teammates especially in transition. Comfortable with the ball in her hands and being a shot creator for herself as well. She has good footwork offensively. Solid baseline drives and dish to teammates. She’s an active on ball defender who keeps a proper stance and slides her feet.
2.
Salma Perez

Perez was one of the top point guards at the event. A good ball-handler who doesn’t try to do too much. Navigates the halfcourt defense well reading the coverage and making the right pass. Good halfcourt vision, an unselfish player who is always looking to pass. Pushes the pace in transition. Able to get into the paint off the dribble.
3. Aakira Smith – Arleta 2025
Smith was a small, but tough and effective guard with the ball in her hands. Strong of the dribble game. She consistently got into the paint. Despite her size, she was able to finish strong at the basket through traffic often times against bigger defenders. Was able to draw fouls and get to the free-throw line.
4.
Emily Fong

Fong was a tough guard constantly in motion looking to attack the defense. Good passer off the dribble in the halfcourt. She came off the bench and was trusted to be a shot creator for herself and her teammates. What stood out though was her defense. She played good on ball defense with a low stance and her arms out. She anticipates passes well and uses quick hands to force turnovers. Boxed out well too on the glass.
