SubscribeSmall town girls throw heavy punches. McKenzie High School is a super tough squad that just flat out competes. They can beat you in so many different ways it’s crazy. Think you can stop one of their weapons and then boom, here comes another. Tough, you betcha. The Lady Rebels will be one of the biggest contenders to win state this year. Why? Well for starters, they’ve been back to back the last two years. They return a Miss Basketball caliber kid, plus solid role players that can hoop. I know there are some people who question their ability to win a third straight or see that they lost a good crop of seniors this past year. But folks, McKenzie is tough and their ability to handle adversity is uncanny.
Last year, the Lady Rebels won state finishing 27-7 overall. Their losses were learning opportunities, which they were able to capitalize on. Coach John Wilkins has taught these girls to have an aggressive mentality, which they unleash on both ends of the floor. The culture is phenomenal and being a Lady Rebel means something around the area. Their ability to knock down shots at a consistent clip plus add their defensive pressure on opponents, makes this team one of the heavy favorites. It may not be a easy road, but these girls are primed and ready to keep this special run going.3-pete? Looks good to me.
Here are some standouts for the McKenzie High School Lady Rebels.
Savannah Davis Savannah Davis 5'9" | SG McKenzie | 2024 State TN (5’9/Sr./G)– The MTSU commit has had a stellar high school career. Tough multi-level scoring kid who is just a pure hooper. Shifty guard who can beat you from the arc or attack you by going inside. Displays an assertive mentality which her teammates feed off of. Intense, hungry, dominant. A few words this girl brings to the table. Doesn’t matter what end of the court, she brings it and plays the game with 100% effort. I believe she will be an Miss Tennessee finalist. Her ability to put up major numbers is why she is a major baller in my mind. Great kid for the Lady Blue Raiders program.
Mikaela Reynolds Mikaela Reynolds 5'6" | SG McKenzie | 2024 TN (5’8/Sr./G)– Sis may be gone, but it’s next Reynolds up. Here is a little play on words… “Reynolds wrap”. The girl is a tough competitor who loves the game. Has a nice 3pt shot that finds the bottom of the net consistently. Will beat you from the field, but plays on the defensive end as well. Is a part of the 1-2 punch tandem the Lady Rebels unleash. She plays hard and fast, utilizing her uptempo ability to create havoc. She plays with poise, picks her spots, and strikes. Look for her to have an amazing season. Ball is a part of her DNA. It’s in her blood.
Cheyenne Long (5’9/Fr./G)- Intriguing prospect that will look to come in with a splash. She’s a gamer and someone who can contribute and score buckets. First year on the high school scene, but won’t be blinded by the lights. Looks to come in and carve a niche out right away. The kid has a lot of potential and will be in the next wave of great Lady Rebels guards. Tough kid with a high ceiling.
