Don’t get me wrong, there are definitely some walking buckets among the group, but we know there are many other ways to contribute to a team’s success. The group below showed exactly how you impact a game other than just scoring.
Breanna Knight Breanna Knight 5'6" | PG Cambridge Isanti | 2025 State MN – Cambridge-Isanti – 2025
Knight might be one of the fastest athletes in the gym, not just at the Expo, but in any gym she enters. She guards on the perimeter with cat-like quickness and reflexes, and holds her own when she finds herself pinned in the post against bigger competition. During the Expo Knight chased down loose balls, sprinted in transition to force jump balls and broke up would-be easy layups with pure determination. Knight is constantly in the gym working hard on her offensive game and once the two merge, look out.
Reagan Niebuhr – Chaska – 2025
Reagan always just seems to be in the right place at the right time. I’ve watched her for a few years now and she’s improved every year. She’s a strong rebounder in traffic and has a knack to be in right place on the offensive glass for easy put-backs. At 6’2 her ability to block and change shots is an undervalued attribute. A little more confidence on the offensive end around the basket will go a long way for Niebuhr as she has also added a pretty consistent mid-range jumper to her bag.
Mirabel Wismer Mirabel Wismer 6'1" | SF Benilde-St. Margaret's | 2026 State MN – Benilde-St. Margaret’s – 2026
Currently ranked 32nd in the class of 2026, Wismer has good size, a motor, and great footwork to boot. She is a Swiss Army Knife of a player with many ways to impact a game. Her defensive exploits were on full display at the Expo as she was blocking shots at the rim early and often. She’s has the propitious ability of coming from the weak side to swat shots without fouling, but what’s even more impressive is Wismer being able to keep the ball in play and push pace leading to offensive opportunities. She is certainly a player on the rise.
Savannah Belongia Savannah Belongia 5'7" | SG Champlin Park | 2025 State MN – Champlin Park – 2025
Belongia has actually developed into a pretty good outside shooter and scoring threat, but when the shots aren’t falling or the opportunities aren’t there, she doesn’t hang her head or sulk, she gets active. There weren’t a ton of shots to be had playing with a few ball-dominant personalities, but Belongia guarded full court, set screens, talked on defense and walked away looking like she had just run a marathon. Improving her ball handling and being just a titch more aggressive on offense will be just what the doctor ordered.
Ella Hardwick Ella Hardwick 5'8" | SG Eden Prairie | 2025 State MN – Eden Prairie – 2025
I have been impressed with Hardwick’s game for a long time. Seemingly always playing out of position, she just makes the best of it. Having to change roles from high school to AAU is pretty standard, and she does it with ease. She just puts her hard hat on and does what the team needs. Depending on the game, she can play all 5 positions standing at only 5’8″. At the Top 250 her full range of ability was on display as she scored from all 3 levels and no one was surprised, it’s just what she does.
Other players that made impacts outside of scoring were:
-Kallin McColm – Holy Family Catholic- 2026
– Alice Ewert Alice Ewert 5'11" | PF Mpls Southwest | 2025 State MN – Minneapollis Southwest – 2025
– Amber Mahal Amber Mahal 6'1" | PF Northfield | 2026 State MN – Northfield – 2026
– Kylee Binkley Kylee Binkley 5'7" | PG Kelliher | 2026 MN – Northome-Kelliher – 2026
