That one is Georgia – and it finally got its turn at the court this past October 15. The LakePoint Sports complex in Cartersville – Bartow County, specifically – once again served as the host venue for this year’s festivities.
Participants were sorted into 10 teams and three of the courts were in use. Team 4 was another of the teams that was stacked with talent. Here are a few of those Team 4 standouts.
Spiers turned in one of the more impressive performances of any of the participants at this year’s Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo. Looking for a height advantage? Spiers presents plenty of it and some given she stands at 6-foot-1. She participated on the travel circuit with FBC United Legacy and is hoping to experience even more winning ways at 4A Southwest DeKalb. Defensively, it is difficult to score on her with the shots she can block. Spiers can display her versatility as a scorer by converting on attempts close to the rim or a bit further away – or even more further away at long range.
Hicks’ freshman season was noteworthy in part because of the team she played on. When she began her travel basketball with Golden Isles Lady Bugs, she was coming off a 2022-23 season with Brunswick that saw the Pirates finish with a 27-4 record and advance to the 6A state playoffs. She is listed at 5-foot-7 and effectively plays at the five. Hicks is also a two-sport athlete who excels on the volleyball court as a middle hitter. While she is an efficient runner of the floor, she converts on plenty of high-percentage shots near the basket and can turn offensive rebounds into two-point putbacks.
Miller has a similar characteristic to the aforementioned Hicks – she also is a multi-sport athlete. That second sport outside of basketball is also volleyball. Porter Sports is the travel team that she participated in. Miller stands at a tall 5-foot-11 and plays for another 6A team in Tift County. That height advantage certainly comes in handy when looking to block an opponent’s shot. Miller primarily operates as a forward, but can display that she can take – and make – her 3-point chances as if she were a guard. Her Blue Devils team also made is presence felt throughout Georgia’s high school basketball landscape with a 22-6 record last season.
Highlights
In similar fashion to Hicks and Miller, Rodriguez also shines as an athlete that partakes in multiple sports. Unlike the aforementioned Hicks and Miller, Rodriguez’s second sport is not volleyball but flag football instead. She participated in travel ball this past spring and summer with Georgia Queen Elite . Listed at 5-foot-5 for 7A Lambert, she is confident in her ability to drain her 3-point attempts. Rodriguez is also gifted as a passer. Her Longhorns had an impressive 2022-23 campaign finishing with a 21-8 record. Last month, Rodriguez landed her first college offer – from Huntingdon – a Division III program based out of Alabama.
