Devyn Quigley Devyn Quigley 5'10" | SG Manchester Township | 2024 State NJ – Manchester Township (2024) commits to NC State
Arguably the biggest news of the Class of 2024 so far in New Jersey, top prospect Devyn Quigley Devyn Quigley 5'10" | SG Manchester Township | 2024 State NJ of Manchester Township announced this week her verbal commitment to NC State.
Quigley is the second New Jersey prospect in as many years to be headed to play for the Wolfpack, with St. John Vianney’s Zoe Brooks doing so in 2023, and the second Manchester Township player in the last few seasons to go to a big time Division I school, following Destiny Adams, who is now a junior at North Carolina. Quigley is one of the best scorers we’ve truly ever seen in New Jersey, scoring nearly 1000 points alone in her junior year, averaging just under 35 points a game.
Sofia Chebookjian Sofia Chebookjian 5'9" | PF Ocean Township | 2024 State NJ – Ocean Township (2024) commits to William Patterson University
It looks like Ocean Township prospect Sofia Chebookjian Sofia Chebookjian 5'9" | PF Ocean Township | 2024 State NJ will be continuing her multi-sport prowess at the next level, committing to William Patterson for both basketball and field hockey.
An incredible goalie on the field and an equally great player on the court, Chebookjian has been a solid contributor for Ocean Township over the last three years, closing in on 500 career points and 400 career rebounds. She’s been consistently one of the better forwards on the team and will reprise that role of a starter in the backcourt for the Spartans this upcoming season.
Yana Shupak Yana Shupak 5'5" | CG Toms River East | 2024 State NJ – Toms River East (2024) commits to the University of Northern British Columbia (CAN)
The United States isn’t the only place for high school players to play at the next level as we learned recently with Toms River East senior Yana Shupak Yana Shupak 5'5" | CG Toms River East | 2024 State NJ . She announced her commitment to head up to Canada and play for the University of Northern British Columbia.
Shupak is coming off her most productive high school season to date, averaging 10.6 PPG, 3.6 RPG and 2.8 APG in 23 games played for TRE. Her defense has made a constant difference over the past two seasons, but she still has one season left to get that much better and challenge for all-conference and all-region selections. Shupak got her chance north of the border, and she’s well-deserving of it.
Madison Palek Madison Palek 6'2" | PF Middle Township | 2024 State NJ – Middle Township (2024) commits to Clarion University
The commitment train rolls on as we head down to South Jersey and Middle Township senior Madison Palek Madison Palek 6'2" | PF Middle Township | 2024 State NJ , announcing her verbal commitment to Clarion University in late September.
Her junior season with Middle Township, her first season with the Panthers, was an incredibly successful one as the 6-2 forward nearly averaged 10 points and eight rebounds a game, recording roughly 1.7 blocks a game. Coming over from Our Lady of Mercy turned out to be just what Palek needed to continue her high school career, and now, she’ll be able to continue at the collegiate level.
Lia Villa Lia Villa 5'10" | SG Marlboro | 2024 State NJ – Marlboro (2024) commits to Catholic University of America
Villa was one of several players to commit on the same day in late September as the Marlboro senior verbally committed to the Catholic University of America.
Slow and steady has been Villa’s point of attack over the last two seasons with Marlboro, making considerable strides offensively last season as she knocked down just under 1.5 three-pointers a game. She set career-highs in blocks, scoring and steals, finding her rhythm late in the year. We’re excited to see what her senior year brings as she prepares for the next level.
