Bethany Ramos
Bethany was noticeable very early on in the Expo. She played with a ton of confidence on the offensive end beating defenders and getting into the paint and from long range. Her jumper was streaky and if she gets more consistent with it she will be a weapon for Hunterdon Central High School. An aggressive defender who disrupted opposing offenses all day long, Bethany is a true combo guard that can help a team in a multitude of ways.
When Bianca gets hot watch out. She can fill it up from beyond the 3-point line and she definitely had her moments today where she was rolling. She has a quick release on her shot and with a high arc she shoots it with a ton of confidence. She is the floor leader for Paramus Catholic. Her shot selection needs improvement at times but she is a confident offensive weapon with a good handle who defenses have to account for.
Allison made 2nd Team All Expo doing the things that don’t always get noticed. She defended inside and out at a very high level and blocked a ton of shots. She works very hard at both ends and hustles from end line to end line both ways in transition. Offensively she works hard to get open inside and did a decent job finishing when the ball found her. She will continue to be a key piece of the success for Glen Ridge HS and NJ Panthers .
Highlights
Behind those goggles is a girl who showed up ready to go at the Expo. She does not have a big frame which gets her moved around at times but she played with lots of energy and scored in a multitude of ways. She used a solid handle to beat defenders and get in the paint where she is a creative finisher. She shoots the 3 with confidence and after she makes a couple shots her confidence spikes and elevates her game at both ends. She will continue to be a big piece of the United EAST program.
Debra did not explode at any point at the Expo but in all 4 games I watched there were multiple moments where she continually made plays. She played with a ton of effort at both ends. She doesn’t try to do too much but she finds ways to make significant contributions. She posts up very physically, gets defenders on her back and finishes well inside. Her rebounding at both ends was tough and physical and she did not back down when matched up against any of the bigs in attendance which is the same mentality she shows for NJ Panthers .
