SubscribeI caught up with some players I hadn’t seen in a while and fortunately for me, I caught them at either the Girls TABC Showcase, PGH Top 250 Expo, or even at The Opening so one more time, place yourselves in a position to be seen up close and in person, there’s no need to hit me up asking where I’ll be because it’s always, well usually, listed right here but here ya go
Pastrano continues to smoothly establish herself as one of the top point guards in her class in Texas and I’ve always enjoyed watching her operate under pressure as far as handling the ball as well as decision making and although I hadn’t seen her in quite some time, I definitely saw progression in her already impressive game. She has very good court vision, both in the set as well as in transition. She scores off the dribble and can drop the mid to long-range jumper
Shields is another gifted point guard that I hadn’t seen yet the Girls TABC Showcase had me playing catch-up with no fries which is the right word because she can be sizzling with the ball in the open court and her ability to go by defenders, both in the set, as well as in the open court, and make passes going full speed is a huge plus. She also understands how to get her teammates involved , yet her pull-up jumper and “on the ball” pressure are also very nice
Hurst caught my eye over a year ago and if you comprehend what I say and have said for, well, ever, non-erroneous rosters are important because she should have already been on here. It was great to see her at The Opening, I love her upside to go along with standing above “the magic number” as well as being “long and athletic” but her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots as well as rebound on both ends have gotten better, so has her scoring around the basket
White caught my eye back at the Heart Of Texas earlier this season and had both of them completely open at, you guessed it, The Opening. Her explosiveness and understanding how to use her athleticism, on both ends of the court makes her a threat on both ends because her defense can be smothering, baseline t baseline, and watching her not only attack the basket but use some very nice body control on her finishes, after contact was nice, so was her court vision
Konarik falls into a unique category which is appealing to many next level coaches and that is “she’s a big guard that can shoot” and can she shoot it. I’ve had a chance to observe her on the court progression over the past, I guess couple of seasons and her dropping the mid to long-range immediately grabbed my attention yet she’s added scoring off the dribble as well as showing she can “catch and shoot” as well as drop it with a hand in her face
Peiffer has been going MADdie lately on the court and I’m adding her not only because of her progression on the court but her potential, I’m the one with the real crystal ball, no CAP. Her ability to contribute multiple ways got her on the GAMECHANGER article last month from the 250 Expo and her poise under pressure as well as getting hers “in the flow” are huge pluses. She also does the little things that don’t necessarily show up on a score or stat sheet that only a REAL EVALUATOR can see, I’m talking about me yet she has turned yet another corner, stay tuned
