The event always features some of the top teams and talent in the Southern California area. The tournament runs from Nov. 20-25. I was able to attend the event on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and here’s a focus on some of the top wing players I saw.
1.
Madison Watts

An LMU commit, Watts is a gifted scorer. Smooth and comfortable with the ball in her hands and getting to her spots on the floor. In the halfcourt, she has a consistent pull-up jumper from the midrange and she can attack off the dribble and finish at the basket. She has good footwork and can get the defense out of position. Defensively, she reads the passing lanes well and forces turnovers starting the fast break.
2. Sryi Prevo – Lynwood 2024
Prevo stood out as a bit of combo guard who played mostly on the wing alongside another ball-handler. She can shoot consistently from three-point range with a quick release on her shot. She can also attack closeouts and shoot off the dribble. Able to draw the defense and make quick passes. She can be a ball-handler both in transition and in the halfcourt.
3.
Samari Bankhead

Bankhead was one of the better wings I saw in terms on being able to shoot off the dribble. When she wants to be, she’s decisive with ball and only needs a couple of dribbles to get off her shot. She has a size advantage against most defenders at her position and does a good job rising up and shooting over them. Did well attacking off dribble hand offs as well.
4.
Abby Zimmerman

Zimmerman has the size as a big/post player but is a little more versatile and spent time playing on the wing. She was comfortable taking jumpers off the dribble and shooting over the defense. Defensively, she’s mobile and can cover ground on the perimeter; often guarded ball-handlers. She kept a low stance defensively and moves well for her size.
