1 Thompson – No strangers to the big stage the Tommie’s claim #1 in the Class A polls. The Tommies took a second place finish at state losing a nail bitter finish to the Central Cass Squirrels. There’s no doubt Thompson returns for vengeance this year with a still stacked state championship squad.
Brenna Martin Brenna Martin 6'1" | C Thompson | 2024 State ND – 6’1 – Returning senior Brenna Martin Brenna Martin 6'1" | C Thompson | 2024 State ND is a force in the paint. A player that can find her shot on any given night and has a long, athletic build for shot disruption. Nothing is going to comes easy in her paint. She’s currently ranked within the top 20 for North Dakota seniors.
Sydney Schwabe Sydney Schwabe 5'4" | PG Thompson | 2024 State ND – 5’4 – Schwabe is a fire starter for the Tommies. Quick, athletic and not afraid to get in the offenses face when playing tight defense. She’s a fun guard to watch who’s got a quick first step for attacking the rim and always a pleasure to watch on the court.
Addison Sage Addison Sage 5'6" | PG Thompson | 2026 State ND – 5’6 – Sage is an all-state caliber player with the most impressive handles you’ll find in Class A. Swift, agile and a 3-level scorer. She’s a must watch this year if you haven’t seen her play yet.
2 Wahpeton – A solid finish to last seasons WDA play places the Huskies as #2 for the restructure Class A. The Huskies finish 14-8. They had a key win over last years state tournament team Sheyenne and one could argue played much steeper competition then they’ll face in Class A. What they return is something special.
Scout Woods Scout Woods 5'10" | SF Wahpeton | 2025 State ND – 5’10 – If you haven’t heard of this player you might be living in the wrong time frame. #4 player according to our rankings for the class of 2025 Scout is a jack of all trades. Without a doubt a D2 level talent at the moment she can drive, shoot, play back to the basket and flat out play ball. She reminds me of D2 NSU commit Decontee Smith in being an absolute work horse. No doubt she’ll bring the pain for the Huskies this season.
Taya Lunneborg Taya Lunneborg 5'10" | SF Wahpeton | 2025 State ND – 5’10 – Another talented forward for the Huskies Taya has proved to be a solid force on the interior for the team. She’s got a nice face up game and has improved her handles enough for attacking the rim. A dark horse for this team that you can’t ignore.
3 Grafton – The spoilers made a late season run for the state tournament, but came up short in Region play to #1 ranked Thompson. Don’t get them mistaken though as they are still a state tournament contender. They had impressive wins over Langdon Area and Kindred last season and return some notable players for another chance at the chip.
Addison Fredericksen Addison Fredericksen 6'1" | C Grafton | 2024 State ND – 6’1 – Addison has been mentioned a few times in the recent articles. She’s long, athletic and has a strong build. With a nice offseason I’m expecting her to come out and dominate the post for her senior year.
Savannah Blackcloud Savannah Blackcloud 5'11" | PF Grafton | 2025 State ND – 5’11 – Savannah is a notable sleeper for the class of 2025. She’s physical, strong and not afraid to fight through bodies when attacking the rim. She’s got all the tools to be a successful big. If she can consistently put the ball on the court from 12 feet out she could be a menace to deal with this season.
4 Northern Cass – The Jaguars fell short of a state tournament appearance to reigning champs Central Cass. Nevertheless, the Jaguars had some impressive wins over Edgley and Grafton last season. They’ll look for some redemption this season as they return…
Josie Jensen Josie Jensen 6'2" | C Northern Cass | 2024 State ND – 6’2 – Josie is a glass eater, backdown specialist and overall brute in the post. She’s got great length and strength that makes her so tough to deal with. If she catches the ball within 5 feet of the rim you might as well put 2 points on the score board because she’s automatic from that range.
Ellie Lucas Ellie Lucas 6'0" | PF Northern Cass | 2024 State ND – 6′ – Do I dare say another 6-footer for the Jags? Lucas is more of a 4 in my opinion. She can be versatile shooting the ball from deep or taking her man under the rim. She’s got nice lateral movement and can stick with quicker guards given her size and length.
Haidyn Crockett Haidyn Crockett 5'9" | PG Northern Cass | 2025 State ND – 5’9 – Haidyn is a shifty taller guard that’s a 3 point sniper for the Jags. She’s got this nice inside out game and determination to her that you can’t stop. She’s tough and player that can drop 15 in a hurry when needed and is currently ranked 7th for the class of 2025 and #1 at the point guard position.
5 Watford City – The Wolves didn’t have the most impressive season last year, but this newly structured Class A may have been the saving grace for this former WDA competitor. They return some key players from last years team as they look to recalibrate their program to the 2021 season.
Jessica Mogen Jessica Mogen 5'9" | CG Watford City | 2024 State ND – 5’9 – One of the top scorers from last year returns for her senior year. This 3-level scorer has nothing to prove, but we know she’s going to absolutely ball out this year. I expect a season average 20 points from her this season as she’s just that good! Did I mention she’s a top 10 player for the class of 2024? Must’ve slipped my mind.
Bailey Mattson Bailey Mattson 5'8" | SG Watford City | 2026 State ND – 5’8 – Mattson is a defensive anchor for this Wolves squad. She was top 10 in the WDA for blocks last year and had multiple double digit rebounding games. She’s a put back mystra that is going to show you those Dennis Rodman worm skills in working around the hoop with bigger posts. A dark horse player that is only going to get better as the season goes on.
These are your top 5 rankings for Class A and some notable players to watch. Best of luck to all these teams and players this season.
