Big things are ahead for all of these young ladies who are making their communities proud and showing what dedication to something can provide!
Katie Vasecka – Tea High School – 6’1″ G/F – Commitment – South Dakota State University
Katie enters her final season at Tea High School and headlines the Class of 2024 as one of the nation’s top prospects! Last season Vasecaka earned 1st team all-conference and all-state honors with stellar numbers averaging 19.5 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 1.6 blocks per contest. She has been a stat stuffer at the high school level since 8th grade and has become a household name in South Dakota basketball.
Claire Sheppard – Flandreau High School – 6’1 F – Commitment – South Dakota State University
Claire is a senior at Flandreau High School and is one of the top prospects in all of South Dakota. She was an all-conference and all-state player putting up 16.3 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game last season. She is a long, athletic forward that is an elite defender and a diverse scorer.
Emilee Fox – Mt. Vernon/Plankinton High School – 5’8″ G – Commitment – South Dakota State University Emilee enters her senior year at Mount Vernon High School in Mount Vernon, South Dakota. She is a four-time all-state selection and five-time all-conference honoree. She has been a varsity contributor since her seventh-grade season and and possesses one of the most complete offensive games in the state. She averaged 14.1 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.3 assists last year in a year where she battled some health issues. The season before she put up 19 points, 6 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per contest. Look for a big year out of Emilee as she heads into her final year of high school!
Mahli Abdouch – Sioux Falls O’Gorman High School – 5’7″ G – Commitment – South Dakota State University
Mahli is a senior at O’Gorman High School in Sioux Falls and is a multiple-time first-team all-state selection. She has point guard traits as well as an explosive scoring game. She put up 16.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 3.3 steals per game. A clutch scorer and playmaker Mahli is destined for a great senior season!
Jaidyn Dunn – Sioux Falls Jefferson High School -6’1″ F – Commitment – South Dakota State University
The future is bright for Jaidyn as she hJaidyn Dunn is entering her senior season at Jefferson High School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She is an all-conference and all-state performer and a two-time state tournament qualifier. Helping guide her team to a state tournament experience she averaged 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and 3 blocks per game. She is a game changer on both ends and will translate her game to the next level.
Skyler Volmer – Lyman High School – 5’8″ G – Commitment -University of North Dakota
Skyler is a long, athletic guard in a forward’s body and has all the tools to play at the next level. She was an all-state player as well as voted all-conference averaging 18.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. She is a stat stuffer and leaves her impact on the game by forcing turnovers and scoring on all levels.
Caylin Kelly – Florence/Henry High School – 5’11” G/F – Commitment – University of Minnesota Moorhead
Caylin is a dynamic G/F who is a multiple-time all-conference and all-state player. For the Falcons last season she averaged 15.8 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per outing. She is a diverse scorer who can get it done in and out of the paint, a stellar rebounder, and a physical defender who can guard multiple spots.
Hannah Leverson – Sisseton High School – 5’5″ G – Commitment – Mankato State University
Hannah is a talented point guard who can absolutely fill it up on the floor. She is an excellent three-point shooter, elite passer, and has one of the highest basketball IQ’s in the Class of 2024. Last season she was voted an all-conference player and surpassed scoring her 1000th point. She averaged an impressive stat line of 15.6 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, and 4.0 steals per game. Big things to come for this talented young lady!
Sawyer Stoebner – Mitchell High School – 5’10” G – Commitment – Black Hills State University
Sawyer is a dynamic guard from Mitchell who plays with high energy, passion for the game, and has immense skills on both ends of the floor. She is a first team all-conference as well as all-state player who averaged 14.6 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 blocks per contest last season. She looks primed for a big senior year and a stellar college career.
Carli Kuyper – Lennox High School – 6’2 C – Commitment – Northern State University
Carli is a high-level post player from Lennox who can dominate on the block as well as light it up from downtown. On the defensive end, she is a difference-maker who can block shots and control the paint. During her junior season last year she averaged 8.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per game last year and is primed for a breakout senior season!
Kennedi Deckert – Brandon Valley High School – 5’7″ G – Commitment – Northern State University
Kennedi is a talented guard for the Lynx who enters her senior season on a really talented team. She is a dynamic guard who is an efficient scorer, has solid handles, and can light it up from beyond the arc. A fierce competitor she will take her game to the next level at Northern. Last season she earned all-conference honors and put up 14 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists per outing.
Lucy Moore – Sioux Falls O’Gorman High School – 5’7″ G – Commitment – Northern State University
Lucy is a dynamic guard from O’Gorman who had a solid junior year contributing 7.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.8 steals on a really deep Knights squad. She has a unique ability to get her own shot while creating for others. A really well-rounded guard the future is bright for Lucy!
Lily Klein – Flandreau – 5’8″ G – Commitment – Northern State University
Lily is a complete guard from Flandreau who contributes to winning basketball in a variety of ways. She is tough, finishes well, and can score from both beyond the arc and in the mid-range. Great intangibles and leadership abilities round out a really solid game for Lily. Last season she averaged 10.4 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per contest and was awarded with all-conference honors.
Mara Grant – Tea – 5’10” F – Commitment – Dordt College
Mara is a powerful forward from Tea who possesses a rare mix of size and athleticism. She can dominate players on the block, is an extremely efficient mid-range scorer, and is an elite rebounder. Last season she averaged 19 points and 10 boards per contest and was awarded with all-conference and all-state honors.
Abby Aslesen – Howard – 5’11” F – Commitment – Valley City State University
Abby is a talented forward from Howard who has been contributing at the varsity level at her school for years. She heads into her senior year after averaging 19 points and 10 rebounds per contest last season and earning all-conference honors. She is an excellent shot-blocker, capable of defending multiple positions, and has a diverse scoring game featuring an effective mid-range game, the ability to find gaps to score off the dribble, and a back-to-the-basket game as well.
Reese Terwilliger – Pierre – 5’11” F/C – Commitment – SD School of Mines
Reese is a powerful center from Pierre who is an elite rebounder, tough-nosed defender, and can dominate matchups in the paint. Last season she was a double-double machine and has developed into one of the most productive post players in the state. She will continue her career beyond high school by heading to the South Dakota School of Mines to continue her basketball adventure. Big things to come for Reese!
Lauren Grinde – Tri-Valley – 5’7″ G – Commitment – Mount Marty College
Lauren is a sharp shooter and an explosive guard from Tri-Valley who signed to play basketball for the Lancers of Mount Marty. Last season she was one of the leading scorers for Tri-Valley and has developed into a leader for her program. She will head into her senior season before continuing her basketball career at Mount Marty.
Macy Koupal – Wagner – 5’7″ G – Commitment – Dordt College
Macy is a well-rounded guard from the talented Wagner High School. A family affair she is coached by her dad and gets to line up with her sister night in and night out and compete for her school. A big senior year ahead for this talented young lady who will continue her basketball career at Dordt College and will look to help her high school squad get back to the state tournament this season.
Aweng Akoi – Sioux Falls O’Gorman – 6’2″ C – Commitment – Southwest Minnesota State University
Aweng is a physically impressive athlete at 6’2″ and with some of the most impressive length in the state. She is an elite shot blocker, solid finisher around the basket, and contributes on the boards as well. She looks primed for a big senior year on a very talented Knights team. She will continue her basketball career at SMSU after high school and has a very bright future!
Congratulations to all of these seniors who have dedicated themselves to playing the game of basketball and have achieved their dreams of continuing their careers beyond high school!
