East Nashville Lady Eagles Preseason Team Preview

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Fly Lady Eagles Fly. Well if you are a football fan, I inserted the word “ Lady” into this song. It's a bittersweet song cause my guy A.J. Brown got traded to the Philadelphia Eagles and he has been a menace ever since he stepped foot on Philly soil. That's another story. Anyways, the East Nashville Lady Eagles are some goons. I'm talking about a super tough squad that just creates chaos. Their ability to speed their opponents up and force them into what they want them to do is crazy good. They are favorites to come out of the Metro-Nashville area/ district, and I frankly can't see anyone stopping them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Lady Eagles by many publications are favorites to even be a team from the Middle Tennessee area that will be up for state contention. Led by Coach Kyle Upton,he has his girls coming out striking fear in opponents the minute they step on the court. Unleashing an impressive offensive attack fueled by defensive pressure, the Lady Eagles know how to get buckets. They are talented from top to bottom and this season will definitely be one where they would like to capitalize on the momentum that has been created. Last year, they were 24-9 overall, going 12-0 in the district. Expect similar results except with a long dance come March. With the talent they have, it will be an impressive squad to take in and see.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here are some young ladies who will be playing for the East Nashville Lady Eagles.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='290705' first='Kenya' last='Fairs'] (5'8/Sr./SG)</strong>- Quick shooting guard that has speed and tenacity to her game. She can knock it down at a consistent clip from the arc, but won't hesitate to go get a bucket in the paint. She defends, getting deflections and loose balls along the way. I like that she competes every possession, looking to maximize her efforts for the betterment of the club. A very talented individual who will contribute nightly to the Lady Eagles success.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='245365' first='Jazz' last='Walters'] (5'9/Sr./SF)</strong>- The Southeastern Louisiana commit is tough. Hands down, her ability to manipulate the ball when it's in her hands is crazy good. She sees the floor well, threading the needle to hit open teammates. She can score it on all three levels, but her ability to attack downhill and finish through contact is phenomenal. She's going to challenge opponents at the rim and its “good luck to ya” as she finishes with ease. She gets hands on balls on the defensive end, which leads to points the other way. She will be the leading catalyst for this Lady Eagles ball club.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='290714' first='Jayla' last='Horton'] (5'11/Sr./PF)</strong>- A beast in the paint, she's a menace and won't be denied. Can step out in the mid-range and knock down shots from the elbow and short corner. Occasionally will shoot the 3 ball, but when its around the block, nothing but money. She's on the boards and creates mismatches for post players who can't stop her impressive foot speed. Her ability to score gives this Lady Eagles club a huge presence inside. Add her ability to finish and then contribute heavily on the defensive end, this young lady is poised to have a great senior year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='636536' first='Da'Nya' last='McMillan'] (5'9/So./SG)</strong>- Long and lanky, this guard is going to be someone to keep your eyes on. Has a sweet left handed stroke, but her quick first step enables her to get right into her jump shot or finish at the rim. She anticipates well, jumping passing lanes that create turnovers that go the other way. She's a selfless player who will do the little things that will help her team win. Though she is only a sophomore, look for her to have a big impact for her Lady Eagles squad.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><br><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='636398' first='Kennedy' last='Thornton'] (5'7/So./G)</strong>- Transfer student who will look to carve out major minutes for the Lady Eagles. Impressive kid who can fill it up from the arc. Has nice handles to her game and the ability to get downhill when and if necessary. The kid can lock up on the defensive end, but being a balanced scoring threat coupled with her ability to make timely assist is what she is all about. Great pickup for the Lady Eagles that will solidify their place now and for down the road.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
