Etiwanda comes into this game as the season favorite to repeat this year as the CIFSS Open Division Champion and CIF State Regional and State Champions at the years end. St. Marys Stockton comes in as well as a contender to get to the finals in the North, but their cast is not as strong as it was last year, some great newcomers and those who will step up, but will have to wait and see what they will do this season and who they matchup against.
The atmosphere in the gym was nice, the fans sat and waited to watch these two teams get it on and they were not disappointed in the performance both teams put forward in this contest. St. Marys Texas-Bound Jordan Lee Jordan Lee 5'9" | SG St. Marys Stockton | 2024 State CA jumped out and tried to establish her dominance from the beginning of the game, she attacked the basket at will and was able to be successful get to the rim thru contact and finish a few times throughout the game. She was guarded by many on the floor, but the most exciting matchup was her against USC Bound Kennedy Smith Kennedy Smith 6'0" | PF Etiwanda | 2024 State CA , both players were getting after one another, but they both scored well in this game and gave us some great moments. Junior Guard Aliyahna Morris Aliyahna Morris 5'5" | PG Etiwanda | 2025 State CA was the spectacular player she always is, she scored from the perimeter and also got the midrange shot and even got layups in the paint with ease. She made plays for her team and made sure they could secure the win in this contest, this kid never ceases to amaze me when we watch her play.
Players that Impress During the Game:
2027, 5’10, CG, St. Marys HS Stockton, Kori Rogers Kori Rogers 5'10" | CG St Marys Stockton Ca | 2027 State CA – she is a player, she is skilled at all three levels on the floor, she is long and lanky and is a killer going to the rim. Her defensive game matches and she plays with a lot of confide lice and conviction. This kid could score like no other and we did not even recognize she was a freshman, she is going to be special, this one is a high-major coaches, come see her now and stake your claim. This kid can handle it, she can run the show for the team, she scores from everywhere and she is a defensive menace.
2024, 6’1, SF, St. Marys HS Stockton, Emani King Emani King 5'9" | CG Edison | 2024 State CA – versatile and very lanky guard who can run the floor and make easy transition buckets. She is defensively skilled and will block a few shots in the game. Can score the ball and is able to take advantage of smaller players in the paint, which was the case in this game quite a bit, she was able get to the spots she wanted and no one could stop her down there. Super rebounder and could get it and push the break and hit open teammates for easy buckets in transition.
2027, 5’9, CG, Etiwanda HS, Dani Robinson Dani Robinson 5'9" | CG Etiwanda | 2027 State CA – quick guard that can shoot the ball, plays very solid defense on the perimeter and is a menace at it. She shot a few threes that rimmed out, but fans were like money, but they did not fall for her early in the game. She defended well on the floor, could contain her opponents on the perimeter and was able to keep them in front and from getting to the paint. She got a few layups off passes and we like her tenacity on the floor, she is a player as well and still in the developing stages of most of her game, but do not get it wrong, she can play.
2026, 5’10, CG, Etiwanda HS, Arynn Finley Arynn Finley 5'9" | CG Etiwanda | 2026 State CA – shooter, has some nice touch in her shot, rotation of the ball shows me that she can shoot the rock well, but had a tough shooting night when we watched her play the other night. She showed she can rebound with the best of them, she showed she can defend and keep guards contained on the perimeter. She can run the floor and finish layups in transition and she can chase down an offensive opponent and hinder shots, this kid is tough and she is gonna be a good rotation player for Etiwanda this year.
