SubscribeI was overwhelmed when I entered the new facility at Conroe High School and I had a chance to keep that energy by catching some of the players I already have listed on the PGH Texas Top 100 as well as others I’ll be adding to the Watch List from various classes so let me get this party started before 8 in the mornin
Foy was a #D1Lock when I first saw her in middle school and although she was relatively unknown, I knew she was going to blow up once she hit the circuit. She falls into that “long and athletic” category as well as standing at “the magic number” and college coaches love those two ingredients right there. What sets her in a different group is understanding of how to set players up to take and finish off the dribble, after contact, with either hand and when you factor in her mid to long-range jumper, once she gets going, she’s hard to contain
Kearney has caught the eye of several next level programs, including BCS/Power 5 schools as well as club programs selling what they can do for her. She’s 6’6, way over “the magic number” and she too is “long and athletic” yet watching her from the initial time I saw her shows what she has “done for herself” and that’s elevate her game. Yes, I loved her timing to block, alter and (or) deflect shots yet she was doing it instinctively and one thing that grabs me is seeing “things you can’t teach”. Speaking of grabbing, her rebounding and going coast to coast while changing hands in mid air JUST DID IT for me
Highlights
Lewis is out right now but never count her out because she was a #D1Lock in elementary school because her mindset and skillset was anything but elementary. She’s a powerful guard that can score however you want and watching her set the defender up multiple ways has been a pleasure yet her court vision and understanding the simple things that fall into #THROWBACK like “positioning to outrebound taller players” “taking charges” and “diving on the floor for loose balls” is what separates her game
Highlights
Alexis is arguably one of the top scorers in Texas because she simply understands and does something that too is #THROWACK and that would be “she finds ways to put the ball in the basket” She’s a big guard that can drop the long ball, college coaches love that, yet she scores off the dribble, solid body control on her finishes and that includes after contact. She also scores around the basket and on putbacks , yet she sees the floor both in the set, as well as in transition and watching her create her shot and elevate and drop from midrange is special
Sneed is yet another elementary school player I dropped the #D1Lock on and I always tell people to correct me when I’m wrong. Watching her was easy to envision what was coming because she was “poised under pressure” playing up against next-level players, that’s my not secret formula and it falls into the “it’s not what you do, it’s who you do it against” statement many still don’t comprehend. She’s a long and athletic guard and her first step sets everything up because she can drop it mid to long-range as well as score off the dribble, yet her court vision going full speed is also nice
Callens is on the CALENDAR for an upgrade after I dropped her on the list see evaluation here a few weeks ago. She falls into so many categories for her school team and trust me, she is THE GLUE that keeps everything together. She hits the boards on both ends and never has me bored watching her energy on the court that gets me going but her sheer power on her finishes coupled with body control make her an “and one” waiting to happen. The mid to long-range, the court vision and ballhandling under pressure as well as “on the ball” pressure are all on point, oh yeah, she can play that position too
