If nothing else has been apparent the first couple of weeks of the season, it is quite obvious that there is a vast amount of talent playing for the better teams in the north. In this Prep Girls Hoops exclusive, we will look at some of the girls who have impressed during the first two weeks of the season.
Francesca Green (5’7″ | Southwood | 2025)
Green had a tough night during the jamboree versus Huntington. Since then, she has gotten a chance to show her full game on the floor. Green is a smart offensive player and a heady defender. In the Southwood wins, she has been very good at using her quickness and length to make steals and create opportunities for her team. Green can pass with either hand and has a good jumper. She is a total player who is only getting better.
Carley Hamilton (5’7″ | Huntington | 2025)
After sitting for a season due to transfer rules, the Raider guard has hit the floor running. She is one of the top players in the Huntington press and has a pair of the quickest hands when it comes to defending. Hamilton is good at tipping passes or tipping the ball away from dribblers. In the open floor, she is good at finishing with either hand. Hamilton can score at all three levels and will dive on the floor for loose balls. Her energy is just infectious.
Jakyiah Lane (5’3″ | Captain Shreve | 2024)
Lane is a point guard who can score. She led the Gators as their floor general against a very good Huntington team and helped her team hang with them for 3 and a half quarters with her play. Lane is good at shooting the corner three when she is open. When bringing the ball up, she is very good at making the right pass when pressured and sees the floor well in general. Her point guard play will definitely help the Lady Gators this season.
Chloe Larry Chloe Larry 5'7" | PG Parkway | 2024 State LA (5’7″ | Parkway | 2024)
Larry is the second rated player in her class and played like it in her game against Wossman. While is highly talented on the offensive end, she is equally as good on the defensive end. Larry showed the ability to read passing lanes and moved her feet on defense to create turnovers. On offense, her ability to stretch the floor is next level. She uses her shooting ability to create driving lanes for herself as well. Larry is a complete player.
Jaila Marshall Jaila Marshall 5'9" | CG Huntington | 2025 State LA (5’9″ | Huntington | 2025)
Marshall is one of the most versatile players I have seen thus far this season. She is one of the most active defenders in north Louisiana and commits five to six steals a game just by reading passes. Marshall is also a very good finisher at the rim. Marshall has also displayed the ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter. Her total floor game makes her an important part of Huntington’s three headed monster this season.
Anyra Wilson Anyra Wilson 5'6" | PG Wossman | 2025 State LA (5’6″ | Wossman | 2025)
Wilson is as solid as it gets at the point guard position. She is always in the right place at the right time when it comes to defending. Wilson is good at helping others and defending the person she is responsible for. Offensively, she is good at the mid-range jumper and knows how to create contact to get to the free throw line. WIlson also shows her intensity by diving on the floor for loose balls. She is the perfect point guard for her team.
These players are as good as we have in the state. They just happen to play in north Louisiana. Look for them on their home floor or other select floors during the season.
