District 5-4A
- Cleveland Lady Raiders
2. Walker Valley Lady Mustangs
3. Rhea County Lady Eagles
4. McMinn County Lady Cherokees
Analysis: Cleveland is certainly the leader here and it’s really not even close. Cleveland has the star power and depth to win the district pretty easily. It will be interesting to watch how the coaching change at WV pans out, as while I know they have more talent than Rhea, I believe the Rhea Co team is on the rise with a really good coach. I think that race for the 2 seed will actually be close.
Distict 6-4A
- Bradley Central Bearrettes
2. East Hamilton Lady Hurricanes
3. Ooltewah Lady Owls
4. Howard High School
Analysis: Bradley will not play a close district game again this year. They might get tested by Cleveland in the Region tournament, but outside of those games, it’s hard to imagine any of these teams staying competitive with Bradley Central for 32 minutes. I believe the interesting development in District 6 is Ooltewah and new hire Tony Williams. Williams is coming off a 27 win at Cleveland HS, and he’s been fully investing in turning around the culture of the Lady Owls. The Lady Hurricanes will have more talent, but if the ole’ Tony Williams matchup-zone makes a come-back, I could see East Hamilton having a real hard time scoring enough.
Region Champion: Bradley Central Bearrettes
Region Runner-up: Cleveland Lady Raiders
