Please note: This award, depending on who is giving it, usually only accounts for players competing during their Senior seasons. That will NOT be the case in this situation. Any player, from any grade level is fair game and has a chance to win.

The Des Moines – Valley Girls High School team has started off this 2023-2024 season in a dead sprint. A team that I had some questions about before the start of this season, has basically answered them all within their first week of play. When you look at the personal that this years Tigers team holds, you see potential. The potential for this group to make a big run during the post season this winter if they come prepared each and every night. The undefined Senior leader of this group comes in the form of Forward, Elise Jaeger Elise Jaeger 6'1" | PF Valley | 2024 State IA . Jaeger is a UNI Panther Women’s basketball commit and a pivotal game changer for whatever team she is lacing up with. Her mixture of size at 6’1 and her coordination/athleticism speaks for it. She isn’t afraid of contact, understands when she has a mismatch, and is very good at producing in simple and efficient ways. Don’t get me wrong, to win this award, you must be very skilled with the ball in your hands in some facet of the game and Jaeger is but when it comes to getting right to the objective, she wastes no time. There is no messing around or taking it un-seriously. Once she steps on the hardwood, it’s all business, from tip off to the final buzzer. I’m excited to see how far Jaeger and company can take this. If they play their cards right and the coaching staff keeps their strategies smart but simple, they will be cooking come playoff time.
