The girls’ basketball season is already into week #5, and there have been a number of girls who have turned into thieves with their abilities to steal the basketball. Below is a quick look at the five ladies leading the state in thefts to begin the 2023-2024 season.

, 2024, 5-7 G, Evansville F.J. Reitz H.S.
– Norah is one of the best guards in Southwestern Indiana, and she plays with a great awareness of the game. She is crafty at both ends of the floor, so to see that she is averaging 7.8 steals per game through five games isn’t exactly shocking. She does a nice job of playing position basketball defensively and anticipating where the next pass is headed.

North Miami | 2024

, 2024, 5-10 F, North Miami H.S.
– Kaiden is a really nice athlete who plays with versatility. She has good skill and can play on the wing, but she’s almost dominant in the mid-post and works the boards hard. Defensively, she has good height and length on the wing, affecting passing lanes, but she can also play somewhat physical on the interior. She has committed to Holy Cross College (IN).
Juliana Davis

Madison Consolidated | 2026
State
IN
, 2026, 5-6 PG, Madison Consolidated H.S.
– Juliana is a nice, young, heady point guard prospect. She has a solid frame, she’s a balanced athlete, and she plays with a nice motor. Similar to Miller (above), Davis is a crafty, position-based defender who rotates to “help” well while also anticipating what her opponent is going to do next. Davis is averaging 6.7 steals per game, but she is also a nice distributor, and she can shoot/score it.
Sydnee Morris

Blackford | 2024
IN
, 2024, 5-11 F, Blackford H.S.
– Sydnee is a twin, and compared to her sister Savanna, Sydnee is a bit more explosive and active, plus she’s more perimeter-oriented. Sydnee uses her length and fluid nature to defend wings and bigger guards, but she can also use her height and strength to defend the interior a bit. She is averaging 6.7 steals per game.

– This Tiger has had a spectacular start to her Junior year, finding herself among the state’s leading scorers as well. She is extremely long, fluidly athletic, and smooth, plus she typically plays at the top of their trapping zones, giving her additional opportunities. She happens to be a good finisher in traffic as well, which certainly contributes to her scoring output.
