SubscribeThe tournament season has kicked off for these skilled and determined California basketball girls. I went to watch some of the girls, and despite it being early in the year, they all look impressive. Their teamwork and dribbling skills are coming together, promising a fantastic season ahead! Here are a couple of standout players who really got it done.

Kiki Zeppos

Watching Kiki play is a blast. As a senior in her last season, she brings so much joy to the games. Even though she’s small, she’s super quick and always in the right spot on the court. She consistently capitalizes from those long passes from her teammates making her clean lay ups look easy. Kiki reads the game well on both ends and when it comes to defense she’s a pro at keeping her opponent from getting a shot off during full court press situation.

Savanna Whitesides

I always enjoy watching lanky centers like Savanna who uses their bodies to keep opponents at bay by strategically boxing them out. She uses her commanding height to capture important rebounds but is still agile enough to glide down the court on offense. She also knows the importance of getting that close shot, so she stations herself under the basket and is constantly calling for the ball.

Lindsay Tambwe

I got to watch another massive center play this week on JSerra. Not only is Lindsay a dominating force when it comes to blocking out opponents and securing rebounds she also seems to take on a leadership role by directing her team and helping with positioning, as well as where she wants the ball placed. She is constantly hanging out by the basket in order to try to win the ball and grab those much needed high percentage points.

Amari Wilson
Amari Wilson
The word ‘wow’ sums up Amari. Her performance against JSerra was truly remarkable, definitely making her a stand out. Her exceptional ball-handling skills coupled with her impressive athleticism translated into her contributing more than half of her teams points. She could nail her shots outside the key as well as hit 10 foot floaters with ease. I loved watching all of her smooth moves. She can do everything from layups to a tricky euro step and she makes it look easy.
