The season is amongst us and the girls of New England have been on a roll. We’ve had some of the best basketball played in the country right here in our backyard and the girls have been absolutely balling, regardless of whether its prep or public school. December can hold a special meaning in our hearts for many of us. A month where some wrap presents, eat the best food from their respective culture and others are cementing their legacy in the history books. Scoring a thousand points is an accomplishment many of us dream of since a young age, often wondering and daydreaming about the feeling this may bring. Hitting the 1k threshold is an act that will forever etch their names with the greats that come from the school to become an icon and add a chapter to the legend. The 3 stars mentioned below have done just that and what an incredible feeling to be able to celebrate the feat while in the holiday spirit.
Christina Pham Christina Pham 5’7″ | PG Noble & Greenough | 2025 State New E (2025)/ 5-7 Pg/ Nobles/ Shooting Touch
Christina is the point guard you want on your team and hate to go up against. She is the ultimate teammate that gets everyone involved within her sets and on the break. Pham is a high IQ point guard with exceptional vision. She’s a true point that is able to dissect defenses and get her teammates great looks to score with ease. She has precision passing skills, a fierce crossover to back any defender off and also a sniper. Pham gets her shot off with ease and has real range being able to shoot well behind the 3-point line. She has a flare to her smooth game that will catch most eyes, but what makes her even more special is the efficiency she brings to high power offenses. Pham is a stat-sheet stuffer that never stops the motion of the offense. We are not talking about your typical star that gets to chuck up shots, rather a highly skilled assassin picking her spots very meticulously to dissect the opponents in a poetic manner.
Grace Martone
Grace Martone
Grace Martone (2024)/ F/ Lasalle
Martone is a hardworking forward that gets the job done by any means. She sports a long frame allowing her to overwhelm defenders draped over her while going to the rim. She scores very easy on the break, getting to her long strides quickly and allowing her to get easy points at the rim swiftly. Grace has an amazing pace and motor making her special outputs almost look regular. Martone is a willing passer getting her teammates involved in her usual onslaught of points on a nightly basis. What is most impressive is the adaptability of Martone after having an injury, she was able to bounce back and morph her game into getting easy buckets in the half court as well as shooting the ball very well from various spots on the court. Martone is an all-around talent.
Armani Rivera Armani Rivera 5’4″ | PG Tolman | 2024 State New E (2024)/5-4 PG-CG/ Shea- Tolman/ RI Basketball Club
Armani is an electric bucket getter that packs a lot of punch, despite her size. Rivera is an outspoken leader as a point guard- a coach’s dream. A quick step, change of height and speed and the ability to turn the corner allow for her to be a menace in transition. She can put up points with a flurry of different moves that get her where she wants on the floor, causing defenders to have back up off her or go under the screen. Rivera combats this tactic by extending her range past the 3-point line, making her a dangerous threat from deep for anybody who may dare her to shoot the 3 ball. What makes Armani truly special is her ability to be a playmaker on the court. Rivera is facilitating great looks for teammates and can thread the needle through just about any zone. Armani is always looking to push the pace to get everyone on her team easy looks and is a real difference maker on the court.
