It features some of Oregon’s best teams from the 4A and 5A levels along with some of the best players. Here are a few of them.
A senior leader on an extremely dangerous Crater squad, Abigail Winslow Abigail Winslow 5’8″ | CG Crater | 2024 State OR is another one of those do-it-all type of players. She is often up near the top of scoring production for the Comets, but she also throws in a handful of assists, a handful of rebounds, and a handful of steals in nearly every game. Winslow excels as a lockdown defender, helping to create tips or steals in Crater’s press and then also in getting out in transition where she is an incredible finisher at high speeds with a hand in her face. She’s had games like her 20 points, 2 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals against South Eugene; her 15 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals versus Lebanon; or her 12 points, 8 rebounds, 2 assists, and 6 steals in their game against Ridgeview in the first game of the tournament. Crater is currently 9-1 — with their only loss to a very good 6A Willamette squad — and ranked #1 in the state in 5A, and Abigail Winslow Abigail Winslow 5’8″ | CG Crater | 2024 State OR is a big reason why. They already have big wins over Ridgeview and Marshfield in the SCTC Holiday Classic, and they take on Baker tonight (12/29) at 6pm in their final game.

Keely Hall Keely Hall PF Klamath Union | 2024 State OR has been playing like one of the best players in the state at the 4A level. She is currently averaging 16.9 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals through the first chunk of games of the 2023-24 seasons. She has helped to lead the Pelicans to a 8-1 record and the #4 spot in the state rankings thus far, which is made especially impressive considering the fact that their program has not had a winning record in nearly nearly 10 years. She is a dominant force in the paint as Klamath Union’s primary power forward/center, however, she is more than capable of shooting from outside, which was on full display in her 25-point, 5-rebound, 1-steal, and 1-block performance against Santiam Christian, that included three made 3-pointers. Klamath Union had their first loss of the season to Stayton on their home floor in the opening game of the tournament on 12/27, had a big win over Gladstone yesterday, and they take on Ridgeview in their final game today, 12/29, at noon.

Nevaeh Edera Nevaeh Edera 5'7" | SG Marshfield | 2024 State OR
Edera is the type of talented shooter that has the ability to completely change the course of a game. She has a beautiful shot that she is extremely quick to get off, in part because she is always ready and hunting her shot. Not to mention, Edera also has the abilities to shoot from deep range and to create her shot using her dribble if there is a defender in her space. She knocked down a pair against a very good Corbett team, three 3’s in the win over Cascade Christian, and an impressive five 3-pointers to go along with 2 rebounds and 2 steals in the Pirates’ game against Scappoose. Marshfield and Edera have played a very challenging preseason and will continue to play some difficult competition in a very tough Sky Em League. They won their first game of the SCTC Holiday Classic on 12/27 over Heritage (WA), lost their second game the following day to Crater, and they wrap up with a game versus a tough Stayton team today, 12/29, at 3pm.
Haley Butenschoen
Haley Butenschoen
Butenschoen is one of the leading names on a Stayton team that has earned a #2 ranking in the state at the 4A level and could make a lot of waves this season. She is a nightmare onn-ball defender for opposing teams, with quick hands and great awareness that often lead to her laying the ball up at the other end. Butenschoen uses her 5’10 frame on the defensive end as well as to rip down quite a few boards for her squad. She can also step up and hit a big shot from outside when needed. The Eagles had a statement win in their opening game of the tournament on 12/27 by giving Klamath Union their first loss of the season, in which Butenschoen led the way with 15 points to go along with 6 rebounds, 2 steals, and a block. They lost a close one to Baker yesterday, and today on 12/29, they finish with a game against Marshfield at 3pm to wrap up their SCTC Holiday Classic.

Kyndal Chandler Kyndal Chandler SG Baker | 2027 OR
Kyndal Chandler Kyndal Chandler SG Baker | 2027 OR , a class of 2027, only started her high school career a few weeks ago, but she is already fitting right into a Baker program that strives for excellence. She is a player who you would never guess is a freshman just by watching her. Her athleticism is remarkable, which is highlighted on the defensive end where she makes incredible plays all over the court. Chandler is also capable of scoring from outside or showing off her ability to finish around the rim in traffic. Her basketball IQ and maturity are already very advanced, and it will be exciting to see them both continue to grow over the course of the next four years. Although Baker is currently 6-5, the majority of their losses have been to talented Idaho teams and they will absolutely be one of the top teams in 4A come season’s end. The Bulldogs already had a big win over Gladstone on 12/27 in their opening game of the tournament — in which Chandler led with 14 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals — followed by a close victory over the hosting Stayton squad on 12/28, and they finish with a huge game against Crater today on 12/29 at 6pm.
