Teams are tuning up for district play starting in January. The following student athletes stood out for their respective teams;
Jessieville H.S.-Peyton Futch 5’9″ PG, 2026 dominated on offense outscoring teammates and opponents in every game. Her offensive skills are next to none. Kennedy Shrivner 5’8″ SG, 2025, pictured above, and sister Karstyn Shrivner 5’9″ SG, 2026, complement Futch with multiple assists, rebounds, and defensive stops to carry the Lions to the crown.
Perryville H.S.-Cammie Christie 5’7″ SG, 2024-The “quarterback” of the team led the Lady Mustangs to the championship game along with Kate Wood Kate Wood 5'9" | SF Bigelow | 2025 State AR 5’7″ SG, 2025, and Skylan Iverson 5’9″ SG, 2025 roaming the baseline for high percentage opportunities on offense and solid play on the defense side.
Cutter Morning Star H.S.-Lead by three underclassmen, the Eagles start with freshman Natalie Babb 5’9″ SG, 2027 and sister Danielle Babb 5’7″ SG, 2026. Coupled with the skills of Keira McDaniel 5’6″ PG, 2026, this trio has a “no quit” attitude that leads the team to be competitive in every game, all game long.
Central Arkansas Christian H.S.-Jaydyn Smith 5’5″ PG, 2024 is the leader on the floor. She starts the offense and drives the lane to get the ball to open teammates. Mia Morse 5’8″ SG, 2026 is a versatile left hander that can play facing the basket or post up in the paint. She can also help bring the ball down in pressure situations.
Danville H.S.-The Lady Little Johns are lead by a couple of sophomores that got my attention. Mia Kisling 5’4″ SG, and Amarie Hilton 5’9″ F, play separate but important roles on the team. Mia, on perimeter play and Amarie works in the paint. Both log a ton of minutes and will get much better as the season progresses.
Mount Ida H.S.-Gracie Summitt 5’4″ PG, 2024 is the “rock” for the team. She keeps the offense in line and is the teams leading scorer. Kendall Qualls 5’4″ SG, 2025 plays with “heart” and probably leads the team in floor burns. Enough said! And when Nevaeh Mckee 5’9″ F, 2025 plays with energy, this team can compete with anyone.
Magnet Cove H.S.-Tough times for the Lady Panthers this season but what a great nucleus of young players for the future. All sophomores, Braelyn McEntire SG, Taysia Buckley SG, Bailey Ramthun SG, and Jordan Emerson F, have the capability to grow on and off the court this season to become a force to be reckoned with in the future.
Jessieville finished the tournament 3-0 and won it with solid defense and timely shooting. The tournament was highly competitive and a good tune-up for district play starting in 2024.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
