District 1 Location – Oakville
- Likely Favorite: Cor Jesu
- Upset Candidate: Lindbergh
- Comments: Cor Jesu is a team that really stands out among the rest of this group. They play well as a team and have had some convincing wins early in the season. The MBCA has them as a top 10 team and that’s a major recognition. Lindbergh is a tough out for most and can provide resistance to Cor Jesu although they’ve already met and there was a 16 point difference between the two squads.
District 2 Location – Parkway South
- Likely Favorite: Eureka
- Upset Candidate: Marquette
- Comments: Eureka has learned early this season and earned some hard fought losses against top competition. These type of games will be valuable for their resume and building toughness. A deep squad that has experience making a deep playoff run. Look out for Marquette who has been playing good basketball as of late. Waynesville also has Breona Hurd Breona Hurd 6'2" | PF Waynesville | 2024 State MO who’s an elite talent and that can’t be overlooked.
District 3 Location – St. Joseph’s Academy
- Likely Favorite: Incarnate Word
- Upset Candidate: St. Joseph’s
- Comments: Incarnate is as heavy of a favorite as you’ll see on one of these lists. They have little weaknesses and win by massive margins. The Red Knights are once again favorites and will remain so as long as Dan Rolfes is in charge. St. Joseph’s is a talented team with senior leadership that could make a deep run in most districts, however, beating IWA is a tall task and will take a perfect game on their end.
District 4 Location – Francis Howell Central
- Likely Favorite: Francis Howell
- Upset Candidate: Troy
- Comments: Franics Howell has emerged as one of the best teams in the entire state. They’re a deep team that plays both ends of the floor and has players who will compete at the next level. Troy is not far behind. The local rival was undefeated through their first six games and had a ton of success early on. This district has a lot of great teams and will be one of the best in Missouri.
District 5 Location – Glendale
- Likely Favorite: Kickapoo
- Upset Candidate: Glendale
- Comments: Kickapoo is the favorite here like most years. They run a great system and have a team oriented style of play. Their combination of inside-outside play is difficult for teams to stop. They’re one of the very best in the state. Glendale is also having a very good season and will make it difficult for every team in this district. They have been regarded as a top 10 team in the class by the MBCA.
District 6 Location – Lee’s Summit West
- Likely Favorite: Lee’s Summit North
- Upset Candidate: Lee’s Summit
- Comments: The two Lee’s Summit squads are a near toss up and it’s hard to choose one over the other. They will have experience playing each other if there is an eventual district championship game between the two. A contest that would surely be exciting and packed in terms of crowd attendance. We gave the edge to Lee’s Summit North since they’ll have the best player on the floor in Summer Yancy Summer Yancy 6'0" | SF Raytown | 2024 State MO .
District 7 Location – Blue Springs South
- Likely Favorite: Rock Bridge
- Upset Candidate: Hickman
- Comments: Rock Bridge is a team with a very high ceiling and they’re a squad that could give IWA a run for their money. Jayda Porter Jayda Porter 6'4" | C Rock Bridge | 2026 State MO is a star ready to breakout nationally. The 6’4 sophomore does everything for this team. Hickman is a potential upset candidate just down the road in Columbia. The Kewpies have shooting and athletic wings to give teams a tough look. This is a talented district.
District 8 Location – Liberty
- Likely Favorite: Liberty North
- Upset Candidate: Staley
- Comments: Liberty North has been a juggernaut so far and have the potential to be the best in all of Kansas City. Their guard play is good and they make shots from deep. A team that will fill it up from three in a hurry. Staley is not to be counted out. They’re also one of the better teams in Class 6 and have a backcourt that gets after it on both ends. Their lineup features a number of Division 1 prospects.
