Miami has big aspirations to go very far this season in 2A. You see why immediately with a talented roster as they beat San Tan 82-16.
Here were some of the standouts of the game:
Leeyah Goss Leeyah Goss 5'9" | SF Miami | 2025 State AZ Miami (Pictured left)
A good sized wing forward can score it a variety of ways with drives for layups, offensive rebound put backs, layups with either hand in transition and can kiss it off the glass from mid-range. She can handle it and plays with a big IQ. She is a sneaky good passer and quick on the ball defensively.
Tamia Pietila Tamia Pietila 5'7" | PG Miami | 2027 State AZ Miami (Pictured middle)
The star of the night belonged to Tamia. She easily had a double-double with points and assists. She is a phenomenal passer and handles heavy pressure easily. She will thread the needle to a teammate and throw pocket passes and full court passes look almost routine. She plays at a different pace then most girls and is so calm. The lefty can pull-up from mid to the three but her mid-range jumper is her sweet spot.
Savannah Pietila Savannah Pietila 5'6" | SG Miami | 2025 State AZ Miami (Pictured right)
The older sister plays with a high IQ like a daughter of a coach would. She is a good passer and will score on perimeter jumpers from the three point line, scores in transition and off the dribble mid-range pull-ups.
Kayana Jackson Kayana Jackson 5'11" | PF Miami | 2027 State AZ Miami
The strong freshman power forward is a rebound chaser. Her activity is almost contagious on the glass. She can step out and shoot the three and will also gain position to score in the paint.
Lauren Stevens SG 5’5 2025 Miami
A scoring guard who is the catch three point shooter of the team. She goes to the open spots of the defense and sets up ready to fire away. She will also score on put backs off of offensive rebounds.
Mya Abbiatti PG 5’5 2024 San Tan Charter
The senior point guard handles the ball most of the time setting up the team plays. She sees the court well and makes the correct reads in the half court set. She will rebounds and grabbed some loose balls for steals.
Kyleigh Mason Kyleigh Mason 5'9" | PF San Tan Charter | 2025 State AZ San Tan Charter
One of the big bright spots for the Roadrunners. She has a physical presence inside to rebound and block shots. She will post up and seal her defender and go to work down low.
