Continue ReadingMonte is one of the premier shooters in the state. She is the type of shooter who you cannot give any space to, as she will shoot with an inch of space and is not afraid to pull from NBA range. She has hit at least a few from deep in all of their games this season, but notably, she made five 3-pointers in the game against Tenison Woods, she had four 3’s in their game versus North Marion on her way to 26 points and 7 rebounds, and she knocked down seven shots from beyond the arc to score 30 points in their win over Sheridan to go along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists. Monte also creates her shot in a variety of ways as she is more than capable of quick catch and shoot off the pass, shooting off the dribble, and shooting while pushing in transition.

Barhoum, a key member of the mega-talented junior class at Clackamas that won a state championship a season ago, is another sharpshooter that you won’t want to miss. She has a classic shot with beautiful form, a quick release, and an ability to hit from well beyond the high school line, making her look like a college-level player already. In their two games this season, Barhoum hit two from deep in the big win over South Medford and hit three 3-pointers on her way to an impressive 25-point, 8-rebound, 2-assist, and 3-steal performance against Oregon City. She is a fearless shooter for the Cavaliers, and she has been and will continue to be a huge reason for the their success throughout the 2023-24 season.
Although Ava Mai Ava Mai 5’7″ | SG Westside Christian | 2025 State OR will produce for Westside Christian in all sorts of ways, she is another player with a beautiful shot that finds its way through the hoop at quite a high rate. A transfer from last year’s 1A champion Damascus Christian (who did not have enough to have a team this season), Mai has already been having huge games for the Eagles at the 3A level, with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 2 assists against Newport and 17 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists versus Southwest Christian. She is the type of player who you can count on to hit two or three from beyond the arc every single game one way or another.

Brezlyn Schwalm Brezlyn Schwalm 5’6″ | SG South Salem | 2025 State OR is yet another player that will make you pay if you leave her open. She contributes a couple to a handful of 3-balls in just about every game. In the first game of the year this season, however, she hit a whopping eight 3-pointers on twelve attempts to lead her squad with 27 points in the win over Woodburn. Due to her elite shooting abilities, she frequently is a leading scorer for the Saxons and makes a huge impact on their offensive success. Sitting at 5-2, we are more than likely to see Schwalm and South Salem vying for a playoff spot if she continues her sharp shooting.

Aubrey Hilton Aubrey Hilton SF Tillamook | 2026 State OR
Only a sophomore, Hilton has already been the Cheesemakers’ leading scorer in the majority of their games this season, helping lead them to a great 5-2 start to the season. Much of her scoring is thanks to her incredible ability to knock it down from deep. She hit four 3’s against Yamhill-Carlton for 17 points and 4 rebounds, three 3-pointers versus Valley Catholic to end with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 steals, and had another four 3’s in the win over Newport. She has hit a few in each of their other games as well. Hilton has a knack to catch the ball ready to shoot with her eyes on the basket that is impressive for her age, and her continued shooting will be fun to watch.

Dylan Cheney Dylan Cheney 5'6" | SG Redmond | 2025 State OR
Cheney, who was second team all-Intermountain Conference last season as a sophomore, has continued to shine so far in 2023-24. She helped Redmond to the top of their conference thus far with a 6-3 record. Some of her big shooting performances this season include four 3-pointers for 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal against a very good Crater team, and she had a monster shooting night with seven 3’s, 25 points, and 5 rebounds versus Cascade. Cheney has a lightning quick shot, allowing her to get it off as soon as she catches it and before the defense can react. She will no doubt hit some big shots for Redmond along the way this season with a shot like that.
