With the abundance of nonsense flooding social media from wannabees, self-promoters as well as those with personal agendas, it has and will continue to become more of a mess yet here are some players that you NEED to be aware of
Gooden switched over from Duncanville and has continued to show she’s one of the most explosive scorers in Texas. I have enjoyed watching her drop the long ball since elementary school, yet her ability to set the defender up in he set to score off the dribble, with either hand, or knock down the midrange was among her highlights from opening day. Yes, she still hit it from deep and her “stop and pop” from BTA in transition had me smiling. Solid defender that also rebounds

Spiller consistently knocks down the midrange jumper but understands how to mix it up by creating her shot, which she does under pressure. Her pull-up jumper is nice an she can drop it from deep with a hand in her face. She also does a good job attacking the basket to score and her court vision was solid, so was her defense
Echols is “long and athletic” which will always be the base yet her intangibles to go along with that are nice. Let me start with her UPS and watching her elevate to rebound and handle the ball afterward, at times going coast to coast to score or dish was nice, yet her elevating on her jumper and dropping it with a hand in her face was also nice. She has good timing to block shots and she plays the passing lane
Griggs SIMply finds ways to get it done and watching her consistently show she could overpower players inside the paint using her strength and frame, her pull-up jumper has added another dynamic. She does a good job creating her shot under pressure , she also scores off the dribble yet her defense, in and outside the paint is yet another plus and she hits the boards on both ends
Coleman brings multiple things to the table starting with her explosiveness and this includes both in the set as well as in the open court. Her court vision was among the best on opening day yet she’s an athletic guard that understands how to apply heat on both ends. Her on the ball pressure helped to create turnovers but on the flip, she dropped the midrange with ease and her body control on her finishes, after contact was very nice
Hall showed she understands how to punish inside the paint and with her being strong and powerful and at times scoring with players literally hanging on her had me smiling. Hands and footwork were nice, she also scored around the basket as well as the short jumper but her rebounding and showing the OUTLET to get the break going was #THROWBACK
Pepp is one of the top UNSIGNED not only guards but players in Texas and her ability to run a team has always stood out. Her unselfishness running the 1 get s her teammates good looks yet look out because her first STEP in her PEPP can leave the defender cemented. Yes, she threaded the needle in transition as well is in the set for assists and she showed nice body control on her finishes but her pull-up jumper, including the fadeaway got me going early, so did her defensive pressure baseline to baseline as well as in the half court
