It’s the least-represented position in this rankings update, but one that still has plenty of quality mixed in. Here are the No. 6-10 centers in the senior class as ranked by Prep Girls Hoops New Jersey.
No. 6: Skylar Soltis Skylar Soltis 6'4" | C Southern Regional | 2024 State NJ – Southern Regional (No. 81 overall)
Soltis unfortunately came off a season where injuries derailed her progress, playing just six games after a season of a near double-double average. She definitely showcased continued flashes of success as a junior, but all came in a small sample size. In what we’ve seen of her play, Soltis has size to her advantage, a 6-4 frame with a long wingspan, perfect for interior defense. Her defense has consistently been her strongsuit, and for good reason, so we expect that to continue as a senior.
No. 7: Erin Frazier Erin Frazier 6'0" | C Teaneck | 2024 State NJ – Teaneck (No. 82 overall)
Frazier has done a lot of growth over her career with Teaneck, evolving into a top-end forward with a knack for defense. You can just tell in watching her play, and the stats speak for themselves, nearly 2.3 blocks a game for her career and career-bests across the board as a junior. The best of her game really came as a junior, a refined offensive skillset with increased tenacity defensively. Where she wasn’t as effective offensively, she improved her passing, and defensively, she made her mark on the boards and in the paint.
No. 8: Gamila Betton Gamila Betton 6'0" | C Ocean Township | 2024 State NJ – Ocean Township (No. 100 overall)
Betton is headed to play ball at the next level, a well-deserved honor for her The split-second decision-making down low certainly has made itself stand out, backing down opponents offensively for baskets and holding her ground defensively. The turnaround post fade or spin move for a quick layup seem to be favorites of hers, and she’s executed them well. Really great to see that defensively versatility, playing man up top with the ability to move with the ball and move well off-ball. A jack of all trades on the floor.
No. 9: Bianca Sode Bianca Sode 5'10" | C Brearley | 2024 State NJ – Brearley (No. 107 overall)
While not the tallest forward, Sode brings to the table a great knowledge of the game and a great feel for the game. She’s coming off a double-double average season with Brearley as a junior, and over the last two seasons, there might not be a better shot-blocker than her, averaging 4.4 blocks a game during that stretch. Where she took a big step forward as a junior was in the scoring department, something to watch this season as her post game improved significantly, a great touch in and around the rim.
No. 10: Ava Vogdes Ava Vogdes 6'0" | C Wildwood Catholic Academy | 2024 State NJ – Wildwood Catholic (No. 113 overall)
Big body, big player, big plays, big moments. Vogdes has been in plenty of big games for Wildwood Catholic over the years, and she’s certainly made her presence felt in those moments. When the Crusaders have needed a big stop, a big rebound, Vogdes is the person they’ve relied upon to make those plays. She’s really worked hard at her offensive game as her defense has consistently been the star of the show. We’re seeing glimpses of those breakthroughs already this season, what we hope is a big season for her.
