A nice bounce back win for the Hawks, who were in control from start to finish. Maintaining a double-digit lead from the midway point of the 1st quarter onward.
Volcano pushed the tempo, getting plenty of transition opportunities and open looks. Junior Mila Espinoza Mila Espinoza 5'4" | CG Volcano Vista | 2025 State NM had a team high 22 points and was on fire from deep. Espinoza had 4 made 3s on the night including 3 within the first eight minutes of action. Senior Taejhuan Hill Taejhuan Hill 5'11" | C Volcano Vista | 2024 State NM was dominate inside the paint, finishing with 19 points. Faith Ortiz Faith Ortiz 5'2" | PG Volcano Vista | 2024 State NM chipped in with 11 points while Lilliana Duncan Lilliana Duncan 5'7" | SF Volcano Vista | 2024 State NM had 10.
For the Eagles, it was a subpar night offensively as Eldorado struggled initiating offense. CG Bella Hines Bella Hines 5'10" | CG Eldorado | 2025 State NM put up a game high 25 points — 6 made 3s — despite being in foul trouble the entire game. Senior Chioma Holyfield was very impressive, battling in the lane on both ends of the floor. Holyfield had 15 points, displaying a nice turn around baseline jumper on several occasions.
