Welcome to the First Edition of Rankings Sessions for the Year 2024, we will be updating like we always do about (4) times per year, so that we can make adjustments and not miss anyone worthy. We do not rank those that we have not seen, it is not credible to do so, but we have (3) scouts that write for us and we scour the State of California looking for those who should be included in the rankings. Here is what we had to say about the girls we added to the rankings, (3) scouts were involved in this rankings edition for PGHCalifornia. Thanks for the subscribe…
Katilin Johnson – King/Drew 2025
Johnson was one of the best defensive players in the game. She has quick and she gets in the passing lanes and forces turnovers. Consistently dove on the floor to recover loose balls off deflections. Scoring-wise, she did most of her damage off the ball. In transition, she sprints out ahead of the defense running the floor and being a finisher.

Lagao is one of the better point guards in the Gold Coast League. Just a solid all-around floor leader who can run the offense efficiently. She can score the ball and she can find the open teammate. Able to get to the basket and draw fouls to get to the free-throw line. Consistent three-point threat off the catch.
Justine Mejia Justine Mejia 5'8" | SG Arleta | 2025 State CA – Arleta 2025
Mejia is a stretch-four who can play some center in small lineups as well. She spaces the floor with consistent three-point shooting off the catch. She can also play in the paint around the basket and is a capable finisher. She can make moves off the dribble in the halfcourt. Good off ball movement especially on out of bounds plays. Good rebounder who boxes out properly.
Liliana Word Liliana Word 5'9" | SF Lakeview Charter | 2025 State CA – Lakeview 2025
Word has good height and size and can use that effectively in the paint. She looks to establish post position and she does a good job sealing and calling for the ball. When she’s in the post she makes quick, aggressive spins to the basket. She can handle the ball in transition and can make moves off the dribble in the halfcourt.
Odali Rivera Odali Rivera 5'9" | SF Berstein | 2025 State CA – Bernstein 2025
Rivera is a scoring machine. She’s fundamental and methodical, almost like moving in slow motion but highly effective. She handles the ball well and is comfortable creating her own shot. Can hit the pull-up jumper in the halfcourt or get to the basket. Good finishing ability. Consistent three-point shot with good mechanics on her release. Hard to guard getting downhill and into the teeth of the defense. Also good coming off DHOs.

Lexi finished the game with 17 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals, she played solid and got much needed buckets for her team. She shot a good (3/6) from the three point line and a solid (4/9) from the field. She was (5/6) from the free throw line and just was solid her squad, she has a nice stroke on her shot and she is able also get to the rim and finish thru contact. We love her intensity on the defensive end as well, she contains her opponent.

– Olympian HS 2025
Asia has scored 235 points in the 11 games she has played with her team this season with a nice average to boot. She is shooting at a high clip of 53% from the field and also is shooting 40% from the three point line. This kid can score the ball and is also a decent rebounder, but her specialty is defense, she is what we consider being a floor thief that can contain and pressure her opponent on each and every possession. This kid is the leading scorer in the junior class and she will make those numbers increase in league play, unless the league has other plans to stop her, we will see…

Maddie average is impressive in the games she has played this season and proved she is amongst the elite in scoring the ball and getting her team to compete on each and every play. She is shooting 39% from the field and she is doing it in a variety of ways. She is a playmaker averaging 4 assists per game, so she is giving out some dimes to teammates for easy buckets on the floor. We see the 2.4 steals as she is able to pressure and contain her opponent and get some transition buckets to her teammates after the steals. Deflections and tips are not shown in the stats, but I bet she is very capable of getting many during the games.

– Oceanside HS 2025
Martina has scored 241 points in the 13 games she has played this current season and her average is also impressive scoring over 18 points per game. She is shooting the ball at a 43% clip from the field and is a master thief on the floor on the defensive end. She most likely picks you up and is able to contain and pressure you into turning over the ball on the perimeter. Her assists numbers are impressive, cause most guards are efficient when averaging over 4 assists per game. We expect her numbers to go up when league starts, true scorers are capable of that in our opinion.

She can score in a variety of ways and is also a menace to society when it comes to defense, she is averaging over 4 steals per game, which is very impressive. She is shooting 74% from the stripe and that makes it hard for teams to hack-a-shaq her during any game, she is making freethrows people. We will see Ivorii in the near future and hope to take a couple of shots of her for her PGHCali profile. Coaches take a look.

So delighted to witness Andrea’s recent game, her court dominance stands out. Leveraging her size and fierce attitude she quickly makes her way down the court and gets around every offender and is consistently converting baskets. Andrea excels in driving to the rim and finishing lay ups showcasing her athleticism. Her tenacity on defense is evident as she sees opportunities to steal the ball and then easily sets up scoring chances for her teammates.
Cayla Mercadel Cayla Mercadel 5'6" | PG Capo Valley Christian | 2025 State CA – Capistrano Valley Christian 2025
I really enjoyed watching Cayla’s stellar performance as she led her team to victory. Her remarkable offense is characterized by a relentless pursuit for baskets. She is a vocal leader and she diligently calls for the ball so that she can keep shooting from wherever she is on the court. On the defensive end, Cayla fiercely guards her basket, preventing any opposing offenders from breaking through. She does not want to give up any points and her constant hustle from baseline to baseline proves that.
Savanna Whitesides – Mission Viejo HS 2025
I always enjoy watching lanky centers like Savanna who uses their bodies to keep opponents at bay by strategically boxing them out. She uses her commanding height to capture important rebounds but is still agile enough to glide down the court on offense. She also knows the importance of getting that close shot, so she stations herself under the basket and is constantly calling for the ball.
Lindsay Tambwe Lindsay Tambwe 6'3" | C Junipero Serra | 2025 State CA – Junipero Serra HS 2025
I got to watch another massive center play this week on JSerra. Not only is Lindsay a dominating force when it comes to blocking out opponents and securing rebounds she also seems to take on a leadership role by directing her team and helping with positioning, as well as where she wants the ball placed. She is constantly hanging out by the basket in order to try to win the ball and grab those much needed high percentage points.

Jade moves effortlessly on the court, showing off her smooth dribbling and precise passing. She’s got a keen sense of where her teammates are, always ready to dish out the ball where it’s needed. On the defensive side she’s a strong presence; she is constantly stealing balls and then charging down the court and confidently taking jump shots in the key when passing isn’t ideal.
Faith Harper Faith Harper 5'8" | SF Mission Viejo | 2025 State CA – Mission Viejo HS 2025
Faith’s gameplay is always unpredictable and fun to watch. She’s such a hustler on the court, running around grabbing the ball and taking shots. Faith doesn’t stay in one place; she’s all over the sidelines, calling for the ball and making the most of every chance to score. What’s so great is that she’s not just about scoring; she’s always constantly moving to help out her teammates when they’re in a tough spot. She also isn’t afraid to throw in a floater right over the centers head. Let’s go Faith!
