You might have to attend a showcase to see a group of forwards and centers who were as talengted as the ones at the Duel in Duval Tournament. In this article we look at this talented collection of players and hilight what they brought to the “Duel.”
Anjela Tumsifu Anjela Tumsifu C North Florida Educational Institute | 2024 State FL (cover) was dominant at Duel in Duval. On offense, she got great position and played with physicality. She scored on the inside without great resistance. Defensively, Tumsifu was a force and blocked several shots and challenged even more. There was one series where she blocked back to back shots, secured the ball, and initiated the fast break. She also put on a clinic on rebounding and outletting the ball to her guards to start the break. Tumsifu is not just tall, she is a skilled big who continues to get better.
Clare Coyle Clare Coyle 6'1" | PF Bishop Kenny | 2024 State FL was unstoppable in the tournament and showed a whole lot of versatility. The team ran the offense through Coyle and her ability to pass was showcased. She was efficient passing against the zone and against the man to man defense. Coyle also scored at will and in a variety of ways: Offensive rebounds and putbacks, drives to the basket, and filling the lanes and scoring in transition.
Maya Richards Maya Richards 5'9" | SG Ponte Vedra | 2024 State FL was impressive in the tournament. Richards makes it a habit of playing opponents who are bigger and taller. She uses her track speed and athleticism on the court. Richards made plays on both ends of the floor, including good on-ball defense and drawing charges on the helpside. On Offense, Richard had a few midrange shots and had a three point play while attacking the basket. Richards also rebounded well and got after every loose ball on the court.
Sydney Roundtree Sydney Roundtree 6'0" | PF Bishop Kenny | 2024 State FL stood out doing a lot of small things on the floor. Roundtree rebounded well and also made some great passes, including a half court pass on a line. Roundtree had the versatility on display, scoring from behind the three point line, hitting the midrange shot, and attacking the rim in transition and in the motion offense. Roundtree has signed to play at Air Force.
Sara Dagba was another impressive forward at Duel in Duval. She played with a great motor and was a crafty finisher. She also played through a lot of physicality and spent a lot of time on the floor going for loose balls. Dagba has a knack of scoring the basketball. After balling at the Duel, she brought the action to Paxon, scoring 20 points and shooting 7 from 11 from the field. She is as impressive as any Sophomore on the First Coast.
