MaxPreps currently ranks them number one in the state of Georgia. They are also averaging over 70 points a game as they ran through their opponents winning by over 30 points a game. Even more impressively they currently have 4 players ranked in the top 40. Two of their players Danielle Carnegie Danielle Carnegie 5'9" | PG Grayson | 2024 State GA and Erin Rodgers Erin Rodgers 6'1" | SF Grayson | 2024 State GA ranked in the top 10. Grayson is coming off a tough win against Blanche Ely a top 10 team in the state of Florida. In fact, this win and an overtime victory vs. Mount Paran decided the only games by single digits. We will take a dive into the team breakdown the excellent week they had to start the season.
Grayson girls run a fast tempo pace forcing steals on defense leading to easy baskets on offense. Grayson is very active in the passing lanes creating multiple steals and deflections on defense. They like to run a full-court press to limit the number of possessions for the other teams. This makes the other teams guards uncomfortable which leads to fast starts to games. Another thing I noticed as I watched this Grayson team is that they are well-coached and disciplined. They do a great job boxing out and closing out on open shooters consistently. They also do a great job of trapping as well as helping and recovering on the backside line of defense.
The quick pace of the guards is the key to Grayson’s success. Additionally, they all can knock down perimeter shots and can get to the basket at will. A combination of these factors open up scoring opportunities all over the court. Their fast-paced offense along with their active defense has led to Grayson girls basketball getting off to a great start this season.
She controls the pace of the game even at her short stature she is in complete control. She is extremely quick and nimble on her feet and very active on defense. She makes up for her lack of size with here extreme quickness consistently beating her defender off the bounce and finding open lanes on the court.
One of the first things noticed about her is her high IQ and feel for the game. She never forces anything and is always one step ahead of the defense. She is also an excellent passer and knows how to use her body to create scoring opportunities for herself and other teammates.
She is a high-energy all-around player. she is active on the boards on both sides of the ball leading to second-chance points and transition offense. She is faster than most other girls ger size which leads to a mismatch
She has great size for a great size for a guard and is an active defender. She was at the top of the full-court press causing trouble for the opposing point guard to bring the ball up the court. She is very quick off the dribble with a great shooting touch and a nice floater game as well.
